Prost left Alpine Safner and will join with BWT

Alain Prost has announced his resignation as an advisor to the Alpine Alps and further significant changes are reported to take place.

Prost left Alpine Safner and will join with BWT

Prost's partnership with Renault began in the 1980s, when he played for Renault from 1981 to 1983 before returning to Renault in 2015 as a consultant. He has been a non-executive director since 2019 at Renault, which was renamed Alps in 2021.

However, Prost has now fallen victim to the team's restructuring ahead of the 2022 season, with Marcin Budkowski, who previously served as the team's executive director, leaving.

Former Aston Martin team leader Otmar Safner is reportedly joining alps, where he is expected to play a similar role to Budkovsky. In addition, sponsor BWT will follow him to the Alps. BWT is the main sponsor of the Force India team that Safner once controlled. BWT kept in touch with the team as it transitioned from race point to Aston Martin, but with Cognizant acting as title sponsor and Aston Martin Racing returning to British Racing Green in livery, BWT's pink could only be used as an embellishment.

BWT will reportedly join the Alps with Safnar, which is expected to have an impact on the alps' livery. The 2021 Alpine racing livery mainly includes blue, red and white colors representing the French flag.

Alps will continue to use the driver line-up of Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon in 2022, which has previously worked with Force India with Safnar and BWT.

When pressed to Aston Martin about the BWT, an Aston Martin spokesperson said: "We don't usually discuss ongoing business discussions and contract details, our complete 2022 partner portfolio will be presented at next month's car launch. ”
