Briatoly may reportedly return to Renault as an adviser

After the discovery in Paris, Flavio Briatoli's re-union with Fernando Alonso in the Alpine Alps was called "very difficult", but not impossible.

Briatoly may reportedly return to Renault as an adviser

Briatoly, one of the most recognized and controversial team managers in F1 history, has a keen eye for discovering emerging racing geniuses.

After Michael Schumacher made a stunning appearance with Jordan at the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix, he successfully introduced Schumacher to Benaton, followed by recruiting another future multi-time world champion, this time Alonso. In 2001, Alonso was sent to Minardi for his rookie season, after which the Spaniard won his chances to win titles at Renault in Briatoli from 2003, winning consecutive championships with the French manufacturer in 2005 and 2006.

Alonso is now back in F1, renault has changed its name to Alps, and he took the podium at the 2021 Qatar Grand Prix, which ultimately finished fifth in the constructors' standings.

For Alps, though, the offseason has changed a lot, with non-executive director Alain Prost and executive director Masin Budkovsky both leaving, while former Aston Martin team manager Otmar Safner is expected to join the team and bring BWT and their pink liveries.

Briatoly may also be reportedly on the way back to the Alps. Briatoly was recently seen in Paris, saying it was not impossible for him to hold talks with the Alps there.

An Alpine source was quoted in the media as telling them that The return of Briatoly is "very difficult, but in F1, very difficult things can become a reality, which I have seen many times." ”

The source added that if Briatoly does come back, he will fill Prost's advisory position.

The source explained: "Alain Prost has left and his position is mostly symbolic and figurative, and this position is now vacant. If he (Briatoly) comes back, he will take on this role instead of as a team leader or management. ”
