"Red Devils" in the history of the car

More than a hundred years ago, he became as famous as Michael Schumacher. A long red trench coat, haggard face, red beard, driver's hat and protective glasses earned him the nickname "Red Devil".

Camille Jenatzy (1868–1913) was a Belgian racing driver. He is known for breaking land speed records three times. On January 17, 1899, in Ahrez, France, he drove a CGA Dogget and reached a speed of 66.66 km/h (41.42 mph) in 1 km. That same day, Gaston de Chaselu Laubart broke the record, but ten days later, on January 27, he reached a speed of 80.35 km/h (49.93 mph). That record was broken again by Chasselou Laubat, but Jenazzi set his third and final land speed record on April 29 when he reached a speed of 105.88 km/h (65.79 mph) in a new electric car called "La Jamais Contente" ("Never Satisfied"), the first to exceed 100 km/h on land. "The car you are riding in seems to have left the ground and is thrown forward like a projectile ejecting on the ground," Jenazi said.

The torpedo-like body of this electric car is made of an alloy of aluminum, tungsten and magnesium, and it has two 25kW motors with Michelin tires, which was unprecedented at the time. Janazzi's record of 105.88 km/h, which stood for three years, was broken by the Frenchman Léon-Serpollet with a steam-powered car at 120.80km/h.

Jenazi died in a hunting accident in 1913. He hides behind bushes, makes animal noises, and wants to play a prank with his friends who are hunting with him. He pretended to be so much like that friends heard the sound and shot because they thought there were animals there. When they realized it was Jenazi, they tried to take him to the hospital, but he died on the way. This fulfilled his own prophecy that he would die in a Mercedes. #Interesting History of Science and Technology# #科技改变了生活 #
