It was not until Li Yuan established the Tang Dynasty that Cheng Yaojin became the "Duke of Suguo", and later due to the dispute between the crown prince Li Jiancheng and the Qin king Li Shimin for the throne, Cheng Yaojin was implicated and sent to Kangzhou.
