The chip soared; the S22 flagship machine of Samsung was in a dilemma, fearing a price increase of $100

Samsung Electronics' flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S22, will come out next month, and it is rumored that due to the high price of parts, the price of Samsung's new machine may be $100 higher than the previous generation.

The Korea Times reported on the 16th that it is reported that the starting price of the S22 series is $899, which is $100 higher than the previous generation of S21.

Last year, the price of key parts of smartphones, such as display driver ICs (DDIC) and touch panel induction chips (TDDI), rose by 30% to 40%, and the price of power management chips and picture sensors also rose by 10% to 15%. The industry estimates that this gives Samsung no choice but to adjust the price to cope.

But the other camp has a different view, and some people predict that Samsung will absorb the cost on its own due to the pinch between Chinese factories and Apple, and the S22 pricing will be similar to the S21.

According to Counterpoint Research, Samsung will sell 290 million smartphones and have a market share of 19%. Apple followed suit, with sales of 240 million units; Xiaomi ranked third with 203 million units. Counterpoint analyst Kang Min-soo said that competition has intensified in all aspects, and Samsung's market share in emerging markets such as India, which are more sensitive to prices, may be snatched away by Chinese factories.

Samsung will release three new S22 machines on February 9, namely S22, S22 Plus, and S22 Ultra. The S22 Ultra will have an S Pen stylus built in.

Samsung pushes the "Tiger" program to repel Apple

The South Korean Herald reported on the 4th that in order to welcome the Year of the Tiger, Samsung has formulated a "Tiger" strategy to be more active in attacking the North American market and fighting with Apple to the death. Samsung plans to increase its market share of flagships of more than $600, lure customers to switch to Galaxy models, and strengthen wireless headphones, etc., so that 2022 will deliver unprecedented results.

Samsung intends to rely on folding phones to sprint the flagship market share, although the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Flip3 are expensive, and last year's purchase boom was good, and the Galaxy Z Flip 3 hit the best-seller list in the North American market.
