Canon (China) responded to Zhu Customs Factory: it will also retain a small part of the parts production line

On January 17, a recent announcement stamped with the official seal of Canon Zhuhai Co., Ltd. was circulated online, saying that it had decided to "terminate the company's production". Zhuhai High-tech Zone confirmed to a number of media that Canon Zhuhai, which has been developing in Zhuhai for 32 years, has stopped production and is currently discussing disposal plans with employees.

According to the announcement, Canon Zhuhai Co., Ltd. was established in 1990, and with the strong support of the local government, it has been able to continue to operate for 32 years by relying on the long-term hard work and positive contributions of all employees.

However, in recent years, the global camera market has shrunk sharply, coupled with the long-term ravages of the new crown pneumonia virus, the company's operation is facing unprecedented difficulties, although the company and all employees work together, but still failed to reverse the dilemma, the headquarters had to adjust the overall operating structure of the group, after careful study, made a difficult decision: to terminate the company's production.

In addition, Canon China previously responded that Canon plans to close part of its production line in Zhuhai, which mainly produces digital camera products.

The Zhuhai plant mainly produces small digital cameras and supplies them worldwide. After the shutdown, the Zhuhai plant will still retain a small part of the parts production line. With the development of smartphones, the market size of small digital cameras has not changed before. The impact of the epidemic and the shortage of chips have also made it difficult for the Zhuhai factory to operate.

Under the upgrading of consumption and industry, Canon needs to make adjustments according to market changes. The above-mentioned person also said that in the Chinese market, Canon will still grasp the SLR and micro-single in the future.
