During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, in addition to male fighters, there were also many female fighters in the ranks of the Red Army. Some of them do logistics, some rescue the wounded on the front line, and some of them directly pick up guns and fight on the front line, fighting with the enemy in blood. Among them, the Female Red Army in the Red Fourth Front army has the largest number, and has been organized into an independent division. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the War of Liberation, many women joined the revolutionary ranks. When the rank was awarded in 1955, the total number of female soldiers in the army was nearly 10,000, but only one was awarded the rank of general and colonel.
The only female major general in the whole army will be Li Zhen. Li Zhen is a native of Liuyang, Hunan, born in 1908, his father made a living as a sharecropper for the landlord's family, often ate a meal without eating, and his life was very hard. To make matters worse, my father fell seriously ill shortly after, and because he had no money to treat him, he died soon after. Without the top pillar, life at home is even more difficult. When Li Zhen was 6 years old, her mother really had no choice but to send her to a family surnamed Gu as a child bridesmaid.
The Gu family was very mean to Li Zhen, calling her like a maid, chopping firewood, carrying water, doing housework, and letting her do everything and suffering a lot. In the summer of 1926, the torrent of the Great Revolution poured into Liuyang, and Li Zhen secretly joined the local women's association and thus embarked on the revolutionary road. A year later, the Liudong guerrillas were formed, and Li Zhen served as chairman of the Soldiers' Committee. At that time, the guns of the guerrillas were very scarce, and most of the members of the team were armed with cold weapons such as large knives, spears and darts.
In order to get the weapon, Li Zhen and the captain decided to attack the Zhangjiafang Regiment Defense Bureau after consultation, the enemy here has more than 20 long and short guns, if it is attacked, it is bound to pay a great price. After thinking about it, Li Zhen came up with a surprise attack, the guerrillas dressed up as a team to marry relatives, and Li Zhen put on a red hijab and sat in a flower palanquin as a "bride". This team of blows and blows soon came to the door of the regimental defense bureau, and just when the regimental members were ready to go forward and knock on the bamboo lever as usual, Li Zhen led everyone to move, and in less than half an hour, they solved this group of enemies.
With weapons, the guerrillas became so powerful that the enemy was restless, and Li Zhen became famous, and soon became the director of the military department of the Pingjiang County CPC Committee. After that, Li Zhen served in the Red Sixth Army and the Red Second Front and participated in the Long March with the troops. Before the Departure of the Long March, Li Zhen, under the enthusiastic mediation of Ren Bi's lover Chen Chunying, came together with Gan Siqi and held a simple wedding on New Year's Day in 1935.
When the Red Army crossed the meadow, Li Zhen was born prematurely due to overwork, and the conditions at that time were very difficult, and there was a lack of food and drink, and the child could not be saved. At the same time, Li Zhen lost her fertility because she could not rest after giving birth, coupled with the invasion of typhoid fever. After the Long March arrived in northern Shaanxi, Li Zhen participated in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the War of Liberation, and the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, making important contributions to the victory of the Chinese revolution. When he was awarded the rank in 1955, Li Zhen was the head of the Cadre Department of the Political Department of the Air Defense Army, and was eventually awarded the rank of major general, and his husband Gan Siqi was awarded the rank of general. In 1990, General Li Zhen died of illness at the age of 82.
The only female colonel in the whole army is Lin Yueqin. Lin Yueqin is a native of Jinzhai, Anhui Province, born in 1914. Under the influence of her father, Lin Yueqin joined the revolution very early and stood guard for the guerrillas. In 1930, the 16-year-old Lin Yueqin officially joined the Red Army, first as a member of the propaganda team, and later transferred to the Logistics Supply Department of the Red Fourth Front, during which he married Wu Xianen, who was then the director of the Quartermaster Department of the General Manager of the Logistics Supply Department.
In 1935, Lin Yueqin followed the troops to participate in the Long March, serving as the commander of the women's engineer battalion, during which he climbed the snowy mountains twice, crossed the meadow three times, and repeatedly rubbed shoulders with the god of death. After the Long March arrived in northern Shaanxi, Lin Yueqin entered the Party School to study, while her husband Wu Xian'en joined the Western Route Army, crossing the Yellow River and fighting with the Majia Army. Due to a variety of reasons, the Western Route Army was eventually defeated and suffered heavy losses, and it was rumored that Wu Xian'en also died in the battle. Later, after being introduced, Lin Yueqin married Luo Ronghuan, who was then the director of the Rear Political Department of the Central Military Commission.
Unexpectedly, Wu Xian'en did not sacrifice, but was captured by the enemy and imprisoned, and after the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, he was rescued from prison by the organization and returned to Yan'an. After learning this news, Lin Yueqin was almost stunned, and later she and Wu Xian'en had a long talk to solve the problem. After the founding of New China, Lin Yueqin served as deputy director of the Office of the Director of the General Political Department of the Central Military Commission, and was awarded the rank of colonel in 1955. Zhang Qiuqin, who had served as director of the political department of the Red Fourth Front, did not receive a rank because she was no longer in the army at the time of the award.
