The child bride was born and humiliated
In 1908, this time was in the late Qing Dynasty, frequent wars, the people were in deep trouble, and Li Zhen was born in Liuyang County, Hunan Province, in such an environment.
Her original family was in very difficult condition, there were six girls in the family, and the only valuable things were two thin fields and a few grass houses. The father died early, leaving orphans and widows to live with each other.
In this way, Li Zhen struggled to grow to the age of six, and in order to reduce the burden of raising the family, Li Zhen was sold to a rich local merchant surnamed Gu as a child bridesmaid.
Although this family is rich in money and rich in assets, its character is not good, and the owner is extremely harsh and mean. Moreover, in that era of son preference, poverty and backwardness, the status of women was already quite weak, and child brides, as a "commodity" of the old society, had no dignity to speak of.
When Li Zhen arrived at the Gu family, she was nominally Gu Tianshun's adopted daughter-in-law, but in fact she was a real rough and lively girl. Li Zhen felt that in this family, she was just a tool that no one cared for and no one loved, and there was no place worth remembering.
Wearing wet clothes that she hadn't even had time to change, she ran out, intending to find a place to kill herself. When the neighbors saw this scene, they came out to persuade her. A mother-in-law said: "We women, that is, to confess our fate, I am more than sixty years old and still work every day, beaten and scolded, this is our fate!" ”
However, these words did not change Li Zhen's thoughts, she did not admit her fate, but more and more felt that as a woman, she should not be trapped here for the rest of her life, but she should do something.
In 1924, because Li Zhen frequently fled and participated in some revolutionary activities, she aroused strong dissatisfaction from her mother-in-law, believing that she was "humiliating". Therefore, in order to imprison Li Zhen's heart, the mother-in-law let Li Zhen and Gu Tianshun officially hold a wedding.

In a guerrilla war, Li Zhen's army collapsed, leaving only five people. At this time, they were forced to the top of the cliff, the bullets were exhausted, the physical strength was exhausted, and the enemy was very proud to see this scene, and shouted: "Now there is still a way for you to surrender!" ”
Li Zhen was very angry in the face of humiliation, and she said to the only remaining comrades-in-arms: "We will never surrender, we will not be prisoners of war, if we have the backbone, we will jump from here with me!" ”

During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Li Zhen once again rushed to the front line of the War of Resistance, as a woman, but she charged into the front and bravely moved forward. She led countless soldiers in arduous struggles and participated in many major battles such as the defense of Yan'an and the liberation of the northwest. After the founding of New China, Li Zhen plunged into the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea and continued to struggle for the revolutionary cause.
In 1955, Li Zhen returned triumphantly from the Korean War, was personally received by Chairman Mao, and awarded her the title of general, among the many, there were 802 generals, but only Li Zhen was a woman, which shows her high merit. She also became the first female general of New China.
