In 1982, although the total number of cases filed fell to more than 750,000, the number of major and important cases was still increasing.
In order to maintain public order, ensure that the masses can live and work in peace and contentment, and safeguard the good prospects of economic development, in June 1982, China established the Armed Police Force. After the establishment of the armed police force, it has played a great role in a series of major operations. In the mid-1980s, with the massive disarmament of PLA troops, some non-combat units were abolished. Among them, some technical branches of the armed forces began to belong to the armed police force.
In the 1990s, the Armed Police Force had a series of different types of troops under its jurisdiction, such as internal guard, forest, border defense, water and electricity, gold, guard, fire protection, and transportation. Seriously speaking, during this period, the tasks undertaken by the armed police force were too many and too complex, and at the same time, the armed police force lacked mobile combat strength. Judging from the actual situation in the 1990s, China's armed police force still lacks the necessary mobile strength and lacks the degree of specialization.
The 1990 Gulf War had a great impact on all countries in the world, and the development process of the war exceeded the expectations of most countries. After the end of the Gulf War, various countries began their own military reforms one after another, and at the same time, various new tactics and tactics began to appear one after another. The PLA forces are overdrawn and need to be further dismantled and reorganized. As for the Armed Police Force, there is a need to form a mobile unit. In such a big environment, in the mid-1990s, armed police mobile divisions appeared.
In 1996 and 1997, the 14 infantry divisions of the PLA force were successively subordinated to the management of the armed police force and reorganized into the armed police mobile division, and a total of 14 armed police mobile divisions were formed. The Armed Police Mobile Division is directly under the management of the Armed Police Headquarters and belongs to the standard reserve mobile force, stationed in different provinces and cities. It can not only undertake emergency rescue and disaster relief, but also stabilize public order in various places. In terms of training content, weapons and equipment, and other aspects, they are very different from other armed police forces.
There are many training subjects of the armed police mobile division, mainly field training, cross-regional mobile training and riot prevention and confrontation training, etc., and are good at handling large-scale emergencies and anti-terrorism surprise warfare, and cross-regional mobile support operations. Of course, in a series of tasks such as supporting the country's economic construction and carrying out emergency rescue and disaster relief, the figure of the mobile unit of the armed police can also be seen. For example, in the course of the earthquake relief in 2008, officers and men of the armed police mobile division in the southwest region quickly dispatched and actively participated in local emergency rescue and disaster relief and local reconstruction. In terms of weapons and equipment, the armed police mobile division is very similar to the light infantry division of the PLA unit, in addition to various light weapons, it is also equipped with recoilless artillery, rocket launchers, armored personnel carriers, armored explosion-proof vehicles and so on.

In fact, while the PLA forces are carrying out reforms, the armed police forces are also carrying out reforms in all aspects.
Among them, a series of units of the armed police force, such as hydropower, gold, forest, and fire fighting, have been reformed. After the reform, it began to be subordinate to the management of various provinces and cities. For example, the most common fire fighters have undergone great changes in their affiliation. In addition, the border defense units of the armed police began to be subordinate to the public security forces. After a series of reforms, the Armed Police Force has a total of 3 corps under its jurisdiction, namely: the Internal Guard Corps, the Mobile Corps, and the Coast Guard Corps.
Among them, the Internal Guard Corps has many detachments under its jurisdiction, which are under the management of the Armed Police Corps in various provinces and cities. The Coast Guard Corps was established in recent years, especially after 2010, China has greatly enhanced its investment in the construction of the Coast Guard and integrated all aspects of law enforcement forces. Eventually, a strong Coast Guard force was formed, such as Coast Guard ships equipped with various tonnages, and even 10,000 tons of Coast Guard ships. As for the mobile corps, it is reorganized from 14 armed police mobile divisions. After the reorganization, the 14 armed police mobile divisions were very similar to the PLA troops in terms of organization, and each mobile division had 3 or 4 regiments under its jurisdiction. Therefore, in the reform of the Armed Police Force, 14 mobile divisions of the Armed Police force were abolished and the mobile corps was formed. According to the current information, the Mobile Corps of the Armed Police has the First Mobile Corps of the Armed Police and the Second Mobile Corps of the Armed Police under its jurisdiction. Each armed police mobile corps has 16 detachments under its jurisdiction, of which the first mobile corps of the armed police has 9 mobile detachments, 2 traffic detachments, 3 special operations detachments, 1 helicopter detachment, and 1 engineering anti-chemical warfare detachment. Due to the complexity of traffic and terrain in the area, the Second Mobile Corps of the Armed Police also has 16 detachments.
