IT House January 16 news, data analysis agency Sensor Tower released a latest research report this week, showing that in 2021, U.S. players spent 68.9% year-on-year on action mobile games to reach $966.8 million (about 6.159 billion yuan), making it the fastest-growing game type last year.

Sensor Tower said that the first sub-category under the action mobile game is the open world adventure category, which attracted more than $418.3 million, an increase of 3.5 times year-on-year. Original God topped the Krypton gold list with $406.3 million (about 2.588 billion yuan), nearly half of the total revenue of similar games in the United States.

IT House learned that the second mobile game after Protos is Kabam's Marvel Contest of Champions, and the third place is Dragon Ball Legends from Bandai Namco.

The second fastest U.S. revenue growth genre in 2021 was casual games, up about 43 percent year-over-year and attracting more than $111 million in gold. Meanwhile, the board game category ranked third in terms of growth, with player spending up 35.4% year-over-year to $772.5 million.

Sensor Tower pointed out that because of the impact of the epidemic, graphics card expensive and other factors, more and more people choose to start playing mobile games, although the number of mobile game installations in the United States has declined, but more people are willing to kryptonite in mobile games, and revenue in 2021 increased by 13.7% year-on-year to $25.4 billion.

Sports games

Downloads for every game genre declined in 2021, largely due to the massive increase in the first wave of the pandemic in 2020. But the sports genre saw the smallest decline, with installations down 2.5% year-on-year to 141.2 million in 2021.

The subtype with the highest share of downloads in this category is Reality Sports, whose installs fell by about 8% year-on-year to about 79.5 million.

Among them, the number one sports game with the highest download is 8 Ball Pool from Miniclip with 10.5 million cumulative installs, followed by Retro Bow, a competitive football game from New Star Games, and Madden Rugby 22 from EA.

Meanwhile, strategy game downloads fell 3.8% year-over-year to 135.8 million downloads, second only to sports games, while casual games saw a 7.3% year-over-year decline to 1.5 billion downloads.

It's worth mentioning that casual games ranked first in downloads in 2021, while Puzzle ranked second with 552 million installs and Arcade ranked third with 438.5 million downloads.
