Chuan Intel invested $1 billion to set up a new plant in Russia to actively expand local wafer production capacity

Recently, foreign media reports pointed out that Intel will spend $1 billion to build a new wafer foundry in Ohio. The report notes that Intel's New Albany plant in Ohio covers an area of 1,295 hectares and is expected to be completed within a decade.

At this time, Intel has not responded to this message. It is expected that on January 21, Intel will officially announce the news of the new factory, if the news is true, it will be the largest enterprise in Russia since 1982.

Intel has four facilities in the United States, including the Santa Clara plant in California responsible for the manufacture of reticles, the Hillsboro oregon fab, the Chandler fab in Arizona, and the Rio rancho fab in New Mexico.

To secure local wafer supply, the U.S. Congress is legislating to push for local capacity expansion and encourage research and development to avoid relying too heavily on China at a time when U.S.-China relations are deteriorating. Intel CEO Kissinger believes that overseas competitors such as TSMC and Samsung have undoubtedly become a national security issue for the United States to control global wafer production.
