According to Bella Ramsey, an actress in HBO's "The Last Survivor" TV series Ellie, the show will be released in 2022.
Recently, Bella Ramsey shared an IMDb post on his Ins that the Last of Us tv series will launch on HBO Max in 2022. Production of the show is expected to run until June, and one of the show's directors, Kantemir Balagov, also included The Last Of Us (2022) in his Ins profile. So the show is likely to start airing this year, but HBO hasn't officially announced it yet.
The show is based on the video game of the same name, played by Pedro Pascal as Joel, who must safely transport Ellie through zombie-infested America. Gabriel Runa plays Joel's younger brother Tommy, while Mel Dandridge plays Marlene, Nico Parker plays Joel's daughter Sarah, Nick Overman plays Bill, and Anna Tove plays Tess.
The show is expected to have 10 episodes, with Craig Mazin of Chernobyl and Neil Druckmann of Naughty Dog as writers and executive producers.
