Among these units, there is one unit with a special experience, that is, the 93rd Division of the Kuomintang Army.
The 93rd Division of the Kuomintang Army participated in the Chinese Expeditionary Force during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and fought more than 1,500 kilometers in Burma, and this unit made great achievements in the Battle of Tonggu, the Battle of Ren'an Qiang, and the Battle of Dongzhi Recovery. After the defeat of the Eighth Army in Hunan, the commander Li Mi left his troops and fled to Taiwan alone, while the families of the 93rd Division of the Kuomintang Army and some officers and men fled south, and finally in early 1950, the 93rd Division and another regiment, as well as the remnants of another division, retreated to northern Burma.
After the 93rd Division retreated to Burma, the Burmese government did not welcome the force, so it sent heavy troops to eliminate the 93rd Division. Although the 93rd Division could not defeat the People's Liberation Army, this unit that had experienced the War of Resistance and civil war was not a soft persimmon, and the officers and men of each unit had certain combat experience, and they quickly scattered the Burmese government army everywhere. Seeing that his troops had not dispersed, Li Mi had gained a firm foothold on the Sino-Burmese border, and immediately asked Chiang Kai-shek for his credit, and asked the troops to step up their training and be ready to carry out a counteroffensive at any time in order to gain greater political capital for themselves.
After resting for a year, Li Mi ordered the commander of the 278th Regiment of the 93rd Division to lead a counter-offensive. At first, the People's Liberation Army was not prepared, thinking that the Kuomintang troops fleeing abroad were just some scattered soldiers, so they did not take precautions against these troops, and as a result, they were caught off guard by the 93rd Division, which conquered four border cities in a row. Nino immediately ordered three divisions to counterattack, which repelled them.
In order to eliminate the 93rd Division, the Burmese government army requested India to send troops to help after sending a number of troops to attack unsuccessfully, but under the counterattack of the officers and men of the 93rd Division, the Indo-Burma coalition army also ended in a disastrous defeat. In the end, the Burmese government really had no choice but to go to the United Nations to complain to the Kuomintang authorities and ask them to withdraw the Kuomintang troops remaining in Burma. The Kuomintang authorities withdrew all the old, weak, sick and disabled who remained in Burma, while the main force remained in Burma.
After that, Li Mi repeatedly asked the remaining troops to continue their counteroffensives, but the officers and men of the 93rd Division were well aware of their own strength and the ideas of the Taiwan side, and were unwilling to provoke the mainland. But as an army living in a foreign land, this force began to provide protection for drug dealers and grow opium in order to survive, and these people have not forgotten that they are Chinese for many years.
In 1970, General Duan Xiwen, the commander of the 93rd Division, at the request of the Thai military, eliminated the opposition forces that the Thai military had been unable to defeat, which caused a great sensation at that time. Finally, the Thai royal family came forward, the Thai king personally commanded the security, the 93rd Division surrendered its weapons to the Thai government, and all of them became Thai nationals.
