In 2021, China's passenger car retail sales reached 20.146 million units, achieving a year-on-year increase of 4.4%.

In addition, the data also shows that the annual sales of new energy vehicles in China reached 3.521 million units, which is the seventh consecutive year that China's new energy vehicle sales have ranked first in the world.

But looking at the entire Chinese market, no car company can surpass Tesla.

According to Tesla's official data, the company's global car deliveries will reach 936,000 in 2021, which is almost equivalent to one-third of China's annual sales of new energy vehicles.

Because of this, the company's stock price will continue to soar, breaking through the trillion-dollar mark and becoming the world's largest automotive company by market capitalization.

However, although the new forces of domestic car manufacturing and traditional car companies are inferior to Tesla in the new energy vehicle business, the Chinese market is Tesla's top priority.

According to the financial data released by Tesla, in the first three quarters of 2021, Tesla's operating income in China reached $9.015 billion, achieving a year-on-year increase of 122.92%, accounting for a quarter of the total revenue.

In addition to contributing a lot to the Chinese market in terms of operating income, the Chinese market is also indispensable in the delivery of new energy vehicles, to be precise, Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory.

The author understands that in 2021, the total delivery volume of Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory will be 484,130 units, up 235% compared with 2020.

Among the more than 400,000 cars, more than 160,000 are exported to more than 10 overseas countries or regions such as Europe and Asia.

Perhaps it is because of the importance of the Shanghai Gigafactory that Tesla decided to actively promote the expansion plan of this production base.

At the end of 2021, in the environmental information disclosure platform of Shanghai enterprises and institutions, there was an environmental impact assessment announcement conducted by Tesla on the second phase of the production line optimization project of the Shanghai Gigafactory.

According to the content of the announcement, Tesla invested 1.2 billion yuan in the new production line optimization project, which is expected to be completed in April 2022.

After the completion of the project, Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory will not only achieve capacity growth, but also expand the number of employees to 19,000 people.

From another point of view, Tesla enjoys the dividends of the rapid development of China's new energy vehicle market, and at the same time, it has also contributed jobs to the Chinese market to a certain extent.

However, for Chinese consumers, Tesla is not so polite. Since 2020, Tesla electric vehicle accidents have been frequent, and Tesla China has also been collectively "besieged" by netizens because of problems such as "brake failure".

In a series of accidents caused by Tesla motors, some owners unfortunately died, some owners were seriously injured, and even traffic police were sacrificed.
