Consulting agency: The new iPhone Pro features a "pill-shaped" punched screen

Apple's iPhone 13 series has been on the market for less than half a year, and the market has been flooded with various rumors about the next generation of iPhones.

On January 13, Ross Young, chief executive of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), an international display supply chain consultancy, said on Twitter that the new generation of the iPhone 14 Pro series will have both a "punch hole and a pill-shaped opening" near the top of the screen, the former being a Face ID dot matrix projector, and the "pill-shaped opening" is a front-facing camera and a Face ID infrared camera.

As described, the new iPhone Pro screen cutout, which is expected to be released this fall, resembles the letter "i" lying flat. Ross Young has accurately predicted that the 2021 MacBook Pro will feature a ProMotion-enabled mini-LED display.

Young said the design is unique to Apple. Among other brands of phone screens, Samsung has phones with a single circular cutout, and Huawei has stuck to that type of design over the past few years, but has never mixed the two elements like this.

Last September, the design was first exposed by anonymous Twitter users. Young believes that this is the design that Apple will use for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. According to the anonymous Twitter account, the camera will be on the right and Face ID on the left.

For when Apple will be able to achieve a true full screen, Young said that considering the technical difficulty of integrating infrared cameras into the screen, it is estimated that the fastest is 2023 or 2024.

In addition, the improvement of the camera is also the focus of attention. Guo Mingxi, a well-known Apple whistleblower and tianfeng international analyst, has expected that the Pro model will replace the current version of the 12 million pixel main camera with a 48 million pixel main camera, and the upgraded camera will support 8K video recording.

A report on camera component shipments from third-party jibang consulting said that the 48-megapixel main camera is expected to introduce Apple's iPhone 14 Pro series released this year, and will further reduce the proportion of 12-megapixel products to 15% in 2022.
