The natural environment surrounded by mountains and rivers, the perennial blooming of thousands of purples and thousands of reds, and the different styles of landscape design make this garden one of the top ten most beautiful private gardens in the world, attracting millions of tourists every year to come here to see its beauty.

The proudest thing about Butchart Gardens in the world is its origins – a garden built on ruins. At the beginning of the last century, the family of Robert Pym Butchart came to Victoria and built a cement factory in the area of Todd Estuary, where they discovered rich lime deposits. With the mining of lime, some deposits were abandoned. Lady Butchart, who loved gardening, began to grow flowers and plants around these quarries. The couple sprinkled the seeds of roses, moonflowers, tulips and other seeds they received from friends or when they traveled in front of the house.

As more and more flowers bloomed, Mrs. Butchart reclaimed one flower garden after another around their house, and invited professional designers and chefs to re-plan and decorate the garden, and the Butchart Garden began to take shape. The completion of the Butchart Gardens is a miracle, the saga of Lady Butchart's life, who, with rare determination and imagination, transformed this quarry of rocks and backwaters into a treasure trove of beauty.

The most stunning part of the garden is the Sunken Garden. It was originally a limestone mine run by Butchart, but after the stone was excavated, it became a pit that sank about 20 meters. The Butcharts planted the rare flowers and trees they had collected in the sinking pit, and gradually the pit formed a sunken garden. It has four levels of landscape distribution, combining European-style forest design with Asian garden changing scenery. Overlooking the sunken garden from above, it looks like Alice's dream wonderland. Wandering through this wonderland, you will also hear the sound of flowing water, and there are many different types of water springs flowing in the depths of the jungle, which will take your breath away.

Passing through a red Jingu gatehouse, you will arrive at the Japanese Garden, designed by the 65-year-old Japanese garden designer Isan Langgi. The Japanese Garden is built next to the Butchart Bay, by the sea. This is the Butchart couple's favorite garden. The garden exudes a strong oriental color with Japanese-style pavilions, arched bridges, flowing water, pavilions, red maples and plants in the garden, which are easy to see and move in stillness, creating a quiet Zen.

Walking into the Italian Garden, visitors can experience a different kind of gardening style. The Italian-style garden is designed according to the ancient Roman palace and is surrounded by a wall of evergreen trees cut into a spherical shape. There are two pools, a flower dock next to the star-shaped pool, and Italian stone carvings in the frog-shaped fountain, and the whole garden is a symmetrical patterned structure.

The rose garden is an elegant and romantic place in the garden. September is the best time to see roses, and there are about 250 varieties of roses in the garden with colorful and attractive floral aromas. Attentive visitors will find that each rose is marked with information such as name, category, and place of origin, allowing people to increase their knowledge while appreciating beauty.

In addition, there is also a greenhouse flower room in the Butchart Garden, which is covered with all kinds of precious flowers, which are stacked in multiple layers, like a flower island in the flower mountain. "Water Dance" fountain, also for the beautiful scenery in the park, the night color lights and the group of flowers reflect each other, the water splash of the fountain, can dance in line with the rhythm of music and lights, so it has the name of "Water Dance". The rock walls of the quarry around the fountain have been deliberately left bare to bear witness to the efforts of Lady Butchart for this incredible garden.

Don't miss out on the Butchart Gardens is the traditional English afternoon tea. Walking into the Blue Poppy restaurant, you still feel that you are in the world of flowers, whether it is on the table in front of the window or on the sideboard, there are different styles of flower arrangements. The snack shelves of the three-story tower are lined with delicate refreshments and fragrant black teas, which create an enticing sweet taste against the backdrop of the flowers indoors and outdoors. In the summer, you can also book a picnic package and the garden will prepare beautiful cutlery, picnic baskets and food for you to enjoy in the sun-drenched garden.
