Although the remains of China's past emperors will also be preserved, they do not have the origin of mummification, with the exception of one person, that is, yelü Deguang, the founding emperor of the Liao Dynasty. Yelü Deguang was actually the second emperor of the Khitans, the first being Yelü Abaoji, but like the Emperor Taiji of the Qing Dynasty, he was founded during his reign, and in 946 AD, Yelü Deguang changed the name of the country to Khitan to Daliao, and the era name was Datong.
It can be said that the Liao Dynasty was established under the rule of Yelü Deguang, who was worshipped as the Great Marshal of the Terracotta Army when he was young, and went around conquest and captured Jibei. In 926, after Yelü Deguang succeeded to the throne, he has always been eyeing the Central Plains, at this time the Central Plains is in the turbulent political situation of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, Yelü Deguang saw the opportunity, in 936, he assisted Shi Jingyao to suppress the Southern Tang, obtained the conditions for Shi Jingyao to be called a son and ceded Yanyun Sixteen Prefectures, the Liao Dynasty had a large area of fertile arable land and pastures, the national strength was further strengthened, and Yelü Deguang also led the Liao State to its peak stage, and the glory was infinite.
In 946, after Shi Jingyao's death, he continued to launch a southern expedition to eliminate the Later Jin Dynasty established by the Shijia Dynasty, but the people of the Central Plains did not yield, and all localities spontaneously formed armed forces to resist the invaders, and the Liao Dynasty troops hurriedly retreated, which also made Yelü Deguang sigh and issue a sigh of "I did not expect Chinese to be so difficult to control".
Emperor Taizong of Liao had no choice but to return to the dynasty, but when he arrived at Luancheng, Hebei Province, he contracted a fever, and within a week Yelü Deguang died, which frightened the ministers who followed, how is this good? Is it buried on the spot?
However, Empress Shulu, who had already received news of Emperor Taizong's dying breath, sent a message from Shangjing: "To be born is to see people, and to die is to see corpses." "This put everyone in a difficult situation, at this time it is a hot summer, there is still so far to go to Shangjing, how easy is it to preserve the body?"
So a group of ministers met to discuss countermeasures, and just when everyone was looking at each other and had nothing to do, one of the imperial cooks offered advice, saying, "Should you make Your Majesty a "bā"? What is it? It turns out that the Khitan people like to eat beef and mutton, herders graze for several days, in order to make the food better preserved, the herders will empty the offal of cattle and sheep, and then sprinkle salt, it becomes a cate, to put it bluntly, it is the bacon of the Central Plains.
As soon as this point of view was put forward, it was immediately opposed by the ministers, and the emperor was made into bacon, which was not to treat him as a beast and desecrate the superior? However, once everyone summed up, it seems that there is no other way, can only send His Majesty and cattle and sheep to Shangjing, but the emperor's body is naturally separated from the ordinary Emperor, so people call it "Emperor Yan", Sima Guang's "Zizhi Tongjian" also has a detailed record: "The people of the country cut their abdomen, counted the salt buckets, carried it to the north, and the Jin people called it 'Emperor Qi'." ”
In this way, the male lord of a generation, Yelü Deguang, became the only mummified emperor in Chinese history.
