In the morning, the reporter came to the drainage and power transformation construction site of the Dongxi Temple Pagoda Pedestrian Street and saw that there were workers working on the construction site.
Two ditches of about one meter or so were dug in the construction area, and the excavated earth and some bricks and tiles were piled up in the construction site.
Previously, the citizens found that the excavated bricks had some mesh checkered patterns, which were very similar to the patterns of many bricks on the east and west temple towers, so the citizens speculated whether they had dug up the cultural relics.
In this regard, experts from the Municipal Museum and the staff of the Xishan District Cultural Relics Management Office also came to the scene to check.
Chen Hao, director of the Kunming Museum, said: "Dig down a little more than a meter, then below 80 centimeters below the surface, there will be some brick and tile accumulation layers." Then these bricks and tiles, we look at it, first, are some broken bricks and tiles without integrity, then it does not exist in an ancient building, or a state of historical architecture, it is a state that has been destroyed; second, this brick and tile initially looks down, the span of time is very large, early may be to the Ming Dynasty, late may be in the 70s, 80s some bricks and tiles have, that means that this is not a series, or a complete cultural layer. ”
It is understood that the construction of the project is due to the disrepair of the drainage and power projects of the East and West Pagoda Pedestrian Street, and there are many lower layers of damage on the road surface, which not only affects the appearance but also has safety risks. The bricks and tiles excavated at the construction site belong to different historical and cultural periods.
