Recently, Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulations in accordance with the requirements of the Regulations on the Administration of the Recall of Defective Automobile Products and the Implementation Measures for the Regulations on the Administration of the Recall of Defective Automobile Products, and decided to recall nearly 200,000 Model S and Model 3 electric vehicles.

Vehicles in this recall include—

Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. produced 19,697 imported Model S electric vehicles between January 21, 2015 and November 18, 2020;

35,836 imported Model 3 electric vehicles produced by Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. between October 4, 2018 and November 20, 2019;

Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. produced 144208 domestically produced Model 3 electric vehicles between October 14, 2019 and December 27, 2020.

The reasons for this recall include that the vehicle may have a slightly backward alignment of the front trunk lock latch and the lock buckle, the front trunk cover may suddenly open during the vehicle driving, affecting the driver's line of sight, increasing the risk of collision accidents, there is a safety hazard; after a long period of repeated opening and closing, the trunk lid may cause excessive wear of the trunk wiring harness, resulting in core separation of the coaxial cable, which may cause the reversing image to not work properly, thus affecting the driver's field of vision when reversing. In extreme cases, the risk of collision when reversing is increased, and there are safety hazards.

It is reported that Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will inspect the vehicles within the scope of the recall free of charge and eliminate potential safety hazards. Tesla reminds that users should drive the vehicle cautiously before the vehicle recall repair, and contact the Tesla service center for maintenance as soon as possible after the recall begins to be implemented.
