341 million PC shipments worldwide in 2021, up 15% year-on-year

Canalys released a report saying that global PC shipments will continue to grow.

Global PC shipments in 2021 were approximately 341 million units, the largest shipment since 2012, up 15% from 2020 and 27% from 2019. PC shipment growth in the fourth quarter of 2021 was modest, up only 1% compared to the same period in 2020.

Despite modest growth in the fourth quarter, global PC market revenue in the fourth quarter increased 11% year-over-year to $70 billion; Full-year revenue increased 15% to $250 billion.

Telecommuting led to an increase in sales of notebooks, mobile workstations, and desktops, with shipments of 275 million units of these products, compared to 341 million units of PCs.

Lenovo ranked first with 24.1% of the global share, but slightly reduced shipments by 0.3% compared to 2020. HP came in second with 21.7%, down 1% year-on-year. Dell 17.4%, Apple 8.5%, Acer 7.1%.

Canalys analysts believe the data shows that 2022 will be the year of digital acceleration.
