Für Darlings-Für Of Germany's representative in China: All countries should face up to the global challenges they face

Conway, Chief Representative of the Friedrich-Ebert Foundation Beijing Office in Germany, International Online

On January 10, the Second Civilization Exchange and Mutual Learning Dialogue was held in Beijing. The dialogue was hosted by the China Association for International Exchange, which belongs to the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee, and more than 260 representatives from different civilized areas of the world attended the meeting online and offline. The participants exchanged views on the theme of "upholding the concept of civilizational diversity and promoting the common values of all mankind".

The Chinese and foreign deputies unanimously held that the diversity of civilizations is the basic characteristic of human society, and exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations are an important driving force for promoting the progress of human civilization and world peace and development.

In line with the attitude of being highly responsible for the future and destiny of mankind, General Secretary Xi Jinping put forward the common values of all mankind that promote peace, development, fairness, justice, democracy and freedom, advocate exchanges and mutual learning among different civilizations, and promote the development of human civilization. In this regard, Kang Huaide, chief representative of the Beijing representative office of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Germany, said in an interview with the media including the www.thepaper.cn that he greatly appreciated the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping.

"At present, our global countries are facing many common challenges, such as public health, climate change, environmental protection, etc., and it can be said that no country can deal with these global challenges independently." Kang Huaide said frankly that all countries should deeply understand the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind, and on this basis, strengthen coordination among countries to jointly cope with challenges.

In Conwyd's view, only by facing the global challenges they are currently facing can all countries seek good solutions together.

The upcoming Beijing Winter Olympics on February 4, 2022, has also become a hot topic at the dialogue. As early as two years ago, Kang Huaide was invited to inspect the preparations for the Beijing Winter Olympics, and was deeply impressed by the concept and methodical preparations for the Beijing Winter Olympics, hoping that the athletes could strengthen exchanges and communication between each other on the Winter Olympic field, and not only enhance their competitive ability after returning home, but also enhance their understanding of the civilizations of other countries.

"Athletes from all over the world come to compete, but the Olympic spirit goes far beyond the competition level." Conwyde stressed.
