The man I am talking about today is named Wu Ruishan, a native of Mingdun Village, Dingji Town, Yu'an District, Lu'an City, Anhui Province, who joined the Red Army at the age of 18, that is, in the autumn of 1931, and was assigned to the First Company of the Young Communist International Regiment of the Red Fourth Front Army as a soldier.
Three months later, the Red 10th Division and the Young Communist International Regiment engaged in a fierce battle with the Kuomintang troops in Zaoyang, and in this battle, both sides suffered heavy casualties, Qin Jiwei, the commander of the First Company of the Young Communist International Regiment, was injured, and Wu Ruishan was also injured, and the two were admitted to the hospital together. In this battle, the grass-roots commanders sacrificed a lot, the troops were in urgent need of cadres, Qin Jiwei was suddenly promoted from company commander to regiment commander, and under qin Jiwei's recommendation, the superiors decided to let Wu Ruishan go to the 30th Regiment and the 3rd Battalion as a battalion instructor.
As soon as Wu Ruishan heard this, he was confused; he had never been a platoon leader, and he had suddenly become such a big official, and he was engaged in political work, and he immediately said, "I will not do it, nor can I do it." In 1934, the army was expanded again, and a veteran soldier like Wu Ruishan, who had three years of experience in struggle, had to be promoted and used, and Wang Jian'an, who was the political commissar of the Red Fourth Army at the time, named him to be the director of the political office of the Red 29 Regiment. As a result, he did not do it again. Wang Jian'an called him to the military headquarters and ordered him sharply, but he did not do anything, so angry that Wang Jian'an picked up the flat burden and almost beat him.
When encountering such a sharp man, Wang Jian'an could not do anything, and Hong Xuezhi, director of military politics, said, Give Wu Ruishan to me, and I will take him well. In 1936, when the troops were seriously attrition and the grass-roots commanders were once again seriously lacking, Hong Xuezhi said to Wu Ruishan, "You go to the company and become a company commander." When Wu Ruishan heard this, he stubbornly came up again and said loudly, I will not go, nor will I do it.
Hong Xuezhi was not accustomed to his problems, took out a pistol from his waist, put it on the table, and said majestically: Two ways, or hurry up and get out of the egg and become a company commander. Or, I'll shoot you. When Wu Ruishan saw this posture, he hurried to take up his post. In 1955, Wu Ruishan was awarded the rank of major general.
