Uber's Apple Watch app is discontinued

IT Home January 11 news, according to MacRumors reported that last month, Uber seems to have silently stopped supporting its Apple Watch version of the app, and several Uber users noticed that they can no longer take a taxi through the watch.

Curiously, Uber didn't remove Uber Apps from the App Store. The app can still be downloaded and installed on your Apple Watch, but opening it will reveal a message about giving up support, ending with a sad emoji.

Uber's website also doesn't talk about the change, though the app has been unavailable since around December 8 last year.

IT Home has learned that since the launch of the Uber Apple Watch app in 2015, although it can take a taxi, it has always had fewer functions than the iPhone version of the app. It doesn't support uberPOOL, price sharing, ETA sharing, or contacting Uber drivers, which could be the reason it was stopped.

Uber recommends that Apple Watch users switch to the iPhone app to get a ride, but it's unclear when the Apple Watch app will be deleted.
