On the evening of November 17, the opening ceremony of the 8th Yangcheng Cantonese Opera Festival was held at the Guangzhou Opera House. This year's Yangcheng Cantonese Opera Festival is guided by the Chinese Dramatists Association and is jointly sponsored by the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film and Tourism, the Guangzhou Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and the Guangzhou Revitalization cantonese opera foundation.
From November 17th to 25th, the Yangcheng Cantonese Opera Festival will continuously launch activities such as excellent repertoire exhibitions, Cantonese opera and Cantonese opera joint exhibitions of Overseas Chinese communities, and Cantonese opera films.

Yangcheng Cantonese Opera Festival has been held since 1990 and has been successfully held for seven sessions, and is the largest, highest-standard, most influential and most authoritative Cantonese opera cultural exchange brand in China.

In addition to Ou Kaiming, winner of the Chinese Drama Plum Blossom Award "Second Degree Plum" from the Cantonese Opera House in Guangzhou, and six famous Cantonese opera performance artists such as Li Junsheng, Chen Yunhong, Cui Yumei, Su Chunmei and Wu Feifan, the opening ceremony also specially invited long Hong, a famous tea picking opera performance artist and winner of the Chinese Drama Plum Blossom Award, Wu Fenghua, a famous Yue opera performance artist and winner of the Chinese Drama Plum Blossom Award, Yang Kun, a famous Kunqu performance artist, Du Zhe, a young Peking Opera performance artist, and Wen Jun, a young flower drum performance artist. Ding Chenghuan and other representatives of famous opera artists came to the scene to help perform.
Famous artists celebrated the opening of the 8th Yangcheng Cantonese Opera Festival with classic works such as Cantonese opera "Encounter Lingnan", Peking opera "Dingjun Mountain", Kunqu opera "Peony Pavilion And Dream Hunting", Yue opera "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai", Jiangxi tea picking drama "Sending Love Lang" and Hunan flower drum drama "Liu Hai Cutting Trees".
On the evening of the opening ceremony, the leaders of the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film and Tourism also signed a strategic cooperation ceremony with representatives of the China Academy of Performing Arts, planning to cooperate in depth in talent training and artistic exchanges.

After the opening ceremony, the modern Cantonese opera "Qingshui Riverside" was brilliantly exhibited as the opening ceremony repertoire. The play is produced by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Guangzhou Municipal Committee and the Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film and Tourism, created by the Guangzhou Cantonese Opera House, and created by the Guangzhou Cantonese Opera Troupe under the jurisdiction of the Guangzhou Cantonese Opera Theatre; with the intention of "green water and green mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains", it profoundly shows the magnificent picture of Guangdong's rural revitalization in recent years.
The play was staged as the grand finale of the 2020 Guangzhou Arts Season. At the beginning of November this year, the play will represent Cantonese opera in Jinhua to participate in the second China (Jinhua) Li Yu Drama Show Repertoire Exhibition and performance activities, and at the end of November this year, it will also participate in the Guangdong Provincial Arts Festival.

As the most important section of this Cantonese Opera Festival, the outstanding repertoire will be exhibited in the Guangzhou Grand Theatre, Bud Theatre, Guangdong Cantonese Opera Art Center, Jiangnan Grand Theatre, Southern Theatre, Panyu Shawan Cultural Center, Huangpu Petrochemical Film Theatre, Rainbow Quyuan, Cantonese Opera Art Museum and other performance venues, and 21 high-quality plays of 15 professional theater groups will be exhibited, such as the traditional classic Cantonese opera "Search Academy", "Three Law Halls Before and Tihua", "Nantang Li Hou Lord", the new masterpieces "Qingshui Riverside", "Lady Chenguo", "Legend of Dongjiang", "Choice", etc. It involves professional colleges and groups in Guangdong Province such as Guangzhou, Maoming and Zhanjiang, as well as Nanning and Wuzhou in Guangxi.

The Cantonese opera and Cantonese opera joint exhibition section of the Chinese overseas Chinese community will be performed by 38 associations from 3 countries such as the United States, Canada, New Zealand and Hong Kong, Macao and other regions of China, a total of 158 programs to form 21 Chinese overseas Chinese Cantonese opera Cantonese opera evenings.
There are a total of 42 performances in the two major sections of the excellent repertoire exhibition and the Cantonese opera and Cantonese opera of the Chinese overseas Chinese association, and the cumulative number of participants will exceed 3,000.
