On the evening of December 15th, the award ceremony of the 3rd Global Micro Cantonese Opera Competition was staged at the Guangdong Cantonese Opera Art Center. At the same time, the day also coincided with the 35th anniversary of the launch of pearl river economic stations.
Since its inception in 2018, the Global Micro Cantonese Music Competition has emerged a number of micro-Cantonese opera works full of the atmosphere of the times and reflecting the new achievements of the new era, many works have been widely sung by the public, and the innovative form of integration of traditional Cantonese music and popular music has also been praised by all walks of life. This year, we also received entries from the United States and Vietnam, making the competition truly international.
On April 19 this year, the "Greater Bay Area, Greater Future - Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Cantonese Opera Art Exchange Activity and the Launching Ceremony of the Third Global Micro Cantonese Opera Competition" was held in Guangzhou. After months of solicitation, the organizers received more than 140 entries. On the morning of September 30th, the selection meeting of the composition competition was held at Guangdong Radio and Television Station, and the jury was composed of famous composers and performers and famous pop musicians in the Cantonese opera music industry specially invited by the organizers. Among them, "Yue Yue", "One Bay New Cantonese" and "Pear Garden Butterfly Double Flight" successfully won the gold medal of the competition.
Among the 15 new works of micro-Cantonese songs performed in this public performance, there are "The Moon" and "The Great Tide", which are full of philosophy and full of philosophy, as well as "Pear Garden Butterfly Double Flying" and "Mulan", which sing classic stories, and even more praise the style of the motherland's mountains and rivers, the CPC's centennial Fanghua's "Forge Ahead to Create Glory", "A Bay of New Cantonese", "Ode to the Red Boat", "Vitality Yongqingfang", "Singing and Praising Hengqin"... From poverty alleviation to all-round well-off, from the scenic scenery of Lingnan to the lyricism of the times, a micro-Cantonese opera work full of the atmosphere of the times has made us feel the beautiful picture of the motherland's prosperity and strength and the people living and working in peace and contentment under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.
At the same time, the performances of famous Cantonese opera artists Xiao Shenying, Ding Fan, He Ping, Guo Fengnu, Zeng Hui, Cui Yumei, Cen Haiyan, Peng Qinghua, Li Weicong, He Fengyi, Liao Qi, Lin Tingting, Bai Qingxian, Sima Xiang, Yulong, Su Linxuan, Liang Xiaoying, Wu Bijun, Tan Qingyi, Huang Wenyi, Huang Xinhui, Lin Caixia, Zhang Yaotian, Wu Jiahui, as well as young Peking Opera actor Li Zhengkuan and well-known pop singer Liang Shan also added brilliant colors to the whole party.
According to the organizers, as innovative works of cross-border integration of traditional Cantonese music and popular music, these short and exquisite micro-Cantonese songs full of the atmosphere of the times are not only an active exploration of Cantonese opera in the new era, but also will surely attract the attention of the younger generation to traditional culture and art.
