Although the market and users of new energy vehicles are becoming more and more mature, there are still general concerns about the winter endurance of pure electric vehicles. Consumers generally believe that pure electric models have a half-life in winter and are difficult to walk.
This time EVRI test, we encountered a very tricky problem, in the winter of minus 20 degrees Celsius to run the endurance test, even if it is known for "true endurance" geometry C, performance can withstand our test?
Therefore, today we will pull the test difficulty full, starting from the Winter Olympic venue Chongli, experiencing the cold, high speed, and turning on the air conditioning, which are the "mortal enemies" of the endurance, to see how the geometric C performs in a harsh state? Without further ado, let's go!
In order to better verify whether the winter endurance of geometry C is reliable, we have carefully formulated an EVRI endurance test route. This route does not go to the inaccessible desert river border, because it is far from our daily life; nor will we test it in the south, where the temperature is higher, because such a temperature is difficult to call a true winter.
In the end, we finalized the test route as Chongli - Beijing (6th Ring Road + Urban Area). In the final phase of the test, we will drive the geometry C to the nest to arrive at the winter limit of the car.
During the test, we will collect data every 10 km of actual travel, record the remaining mileage of geometry C, and finally make the data into a clear and intuitive histogram table.

■ Key points: The preparatory work should be done sufficiently
We need to fill up the battery before running long distances in any season, but that's not enough.

At the end of December in Chongli, the night temperature has reached -20 °C, and the morning temperature is also between -15 °C and -13 °C. If we leave the vehicle idle overnight after the outdoor charging pile is fully charged, the battery life will inevitably be damaged.
Therefore, we found an underground parking lot charging station in the Prince Edward City-Genting District near Chongli City, which has 8 AC slow charging piles. In addition, we make full use of a series of "advanced functions" of geometry C.
Geometry C's charging on-time and charging percentage can be set in the car, and more critically for winter travel, Geometry C is equipped with a practical "reservation travel" function.
In the "Book a Trip" menu, we can select "Power Battery Insertion Gun Warm-up" and set an opening time for it. After this operation, the vehicle can reach its best condition before departure, and the mileage will be greatly improved.
Make the best preparations to fight the hardest battle. We drove the Geometry C on the road back to Beijing.
■ Stage 1: Highway testing
Test route: Chongli - Jingli Expressway - G6 Beijing-Tibet Expressway - Baige Service Area
Ambient temperature: -13 °C to 1 °C
Test duration: 2 hours and 44 minutes
Actual mileage: 182 km
The remaining endurance of the table: 376km
Remaining power on the meter: 68%
In fact, one of the reasons for the shortening of the endurance of electric vehicles in winter is air conditioning, so in order to be closer to the real winter car scene, we also adjusted the air conditioning temperature to 24 ° C.
Dare to be so "unbridled" challenge, but also because the geometry C equipped with "heat pump air conditioning" can effectively improve winter endurance.
The Geometry C is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power of 150 kW and a maximum torque of 310 N·m. After merging into the ramp, we quickly adjusted the speed to 100 km/h, and the cold weather that can feel the geometry will not have a significant impact on the battery system and performance of geometry C.
Pure electric vehicles are bound to be equipped with kinetic energy recovery, and the geometric C is equipped with the Bosch iBooster energy recovery system, which can help the vehicle increase the endurance by more than 10%. When the accelerator pedal is released, the kinetic energy recovery system of geometry C immediately begins to recover the work, and the kinetic energy recovery of geometry C is very smooth in terms of somatosensory, and does not make the driver feel abrupt.
On the way from Chongli to Beijing, as the altitude gradually decreases, kinetic energy recovery is also one of the tools to extend the endurance of geometry C.
There are few cars and smooth roads on the Jingli Expressway tens of kilometers ahead, and we have been ensuring that the speed is stable between 95-100km/h. However, as you know, there are many tunnels on the Jingli Expressway, and we cannot ensure a speed of 100km/h throughout the journey.
Every time we enter the tunnel, we try to reduce the speed by relying on the kinetic energy recovery system to reduce the speed to about 80km/h.
In fact, the ECO mode of geometric C is equivalent to the standard mode, the power of the vehicle in this mode is still very strong, and we try to be as gentle as possible during the acceleration process to ensure the stability of power consumption.
Good driving habits combined with an excellent kinetic energy recovery system contribute to a more ideal winter battery life.
In the last section of the G6 Beijing-Tibet Expressway, there is a speed limit of 60km/h in the not short section, and after passing through that section of the road, we continue to restore the speed of 100km/h and reach the destination of the first phase of endurance testing - the Baige service area.

Along the way, the temperature increased from -13°C to 1°C, and we successfully completed the coldest test. We will take a break from parking and review the first phase of endurance testing.
So, we got some surprises.

In fact, when developing today's test route, we have fully taken into account the geometry C is very "carrying". We are sure that after arriving at the Bagel service area from Chongli, there will be sufficient power to complete the next two phases of testing.
However, the actual performance of geometry C today is even better than we expected. After the actual 182 km of driving, the geometry C's meter cruising range has only dropped by 176 km.
As the most important test, we need to analyze it more carefully, so we have made the following histogram
Histogram meaning: The dark blue column is added to the light blue column to get the estimated total mileage of the vehicle in real time. Among them, the dark blue column represents the actual mileage and steady growth; the light blue column represents the remaining endurance and changes in real time.
By looking at the histogram, we can first find that the battery preheating greatly helps geometry C to improve endurance, which is particularly evident in the initial 40-50km. As the speed increases, the power consumption of geometry C in the middle of the distance increases slightly. However, in the stage of slow travel through the tunnel and through the G6 Beijing-Tibet Expressway, the power consumption of geometry C is gradually reduced, and the total driving mileage is expected to show an upward trend.
■ Stage 2: Urban loop test
Test Route: Beijing 6th Ring Road (around a full circle)
Ambient temperature: 1°C to 3°C
Test time: 2 hours and 22 minutes

Table endurance remaining: 141km

The Sixth Ring Road in the afternoon is generally open, with occasional brief slowdowns, but our minimum speed of traffic is not less than 60km/h.
The speed limit is 100km/h for most sections of the Sixth Ring Road and 80km/h for a small part. As the old rule goes, we'll drive as close as possible to the speed limit.
In the loop test, we can experience the L2 level intelligent driver assistance system of the geometry C.
Click on the button in the upper left corner of the steering wheel to start cruising, and then flick the roller below, and the geometric C immediately begins to draw along the road, and the vehicle can also be automatically "sucked" into the curve in the loop
If there is a vehicle in front of the road, Geometry C will gently adjust the speed, automatically grasp the distance with the car, and the vehicle acceleration and braking feel is still very comfortable.
Geometry C's HUD head-up display function will display key information such as road scribing and distance related to the intelligent driver assistance system, along the way we only need to gently hold the steering wheel forward, and Geometric C itself will grasp the speed limit. Our hands and feet were very liberated, the whole process was very relaxed, and the hard tests did not make people tired.
After a full circle around the sixth ring, we returned to the vicinity of the Baguagh service area. After the end of this stage of endurance test, geometry C actually traveled 368.3km, the table showed that the battery life remained 141km, and the power was 25%.
Before we could stop, we immediately entered the final congestion city endurance test.
■ Phase 3: Congestion urban test
Test route: Baige Service Area - 6th Ring Auxiliary Road - 3rd Ring Auxiliary Road - Gaobeidian Dongyi International Building
Ambient temperature: 3°C to -2°C
Test time: 4 hours and 42 minutes
Actual mileage: 161km
Table display endurance remaining: 0km
Remaining power on the meter: 0%
The longest phase of every EVRI endurance test is the final stage – the congestion city condition test.
In the final stage, we took the sixth ring road and the third ring auxiliary road from the Baige service area, and then crossed a section of the urban area to the Jingtong Expressway auxiliary road.
After more than 4 hours, we are not far from the nest.
The power of the Geometry C has reached 0%, and we are also in sight.
When the power is less than 18%, the meter screen of geometry C appears as above (yellow icon next to the red battery bar). When the endurance of the table is less than 25km, the remaining endurance of geometry C is displayed as "---km", and the power output of the vehicle begins to be limited.
Without too many annoying alarms, the low-power Geometry C also continues to fight.
Eventually, we drove the vehicle to the nest near the charging pile in dongyi international park. The gear of the geometric C is forced to switch into N gear and can no longer drive, but the instrument, central control screen and headlights have not been extinguished.
After the power is displayed as 0%, the geometry C slows down by 10.6km. In the end, the Geometry C delivered a beautiful score of 529.3km in today's EVRI endurance test.
■ Test overview
Looking at the ups and downs of the histogram, we have made the following summary:
The use of intelligent charging pile appointment heating function can make the winter endurance of Geometry C more secure;
When driving at high speeds on the Sixth Ring Road, the electricity consumption is slightly higher than that of the Chongli-Beijing section, but its energy consumption indicator is still excellent;
Through the 1 and 2 stages of endurance testing, it can be seen that the battery intelligent temperature control system of geometry C is quite reliable;
With the optimization of the working conditions, the estimated total mileage of geometry C will increase;
When the remaining 0km of the watch endurance, the geometric C can still travel more than 10km for the owner to urgently find the charging pile.
