Ten trillion-level intelligent car market take-off is still "poor tone"? Academician: It is important to improve the "endogenous safety" of automobiles

The first batch of 200 beta trial versions of zhiji L7 were officially delivered offline

Automobile as a strategic pillar industry of the national economy, is experiencing the tide of electrification, intelligence, networking transformation, transportation is also changing from traditional transportation to intelligent transportation, many of the world's technology and industry giants have invested heavily in the field of intelligent vehicles, new forces to build cars quietly rise.

Compared with traditional cars, the network security problems of intelligent networked vehicles are like a "ceiling" that slows down the momentum of industrial development. At the first council of the Shanghai Intelligent Connected Vehicle Network Security Industry Collaborative Innovation Center held recently, experts said that the Internet of Vehicles is still in an accelerated stage, and the network security industry is in the early stage of development, and Shanghai should seize the opportunity to become the "engine" of the national intelligent network security industry.

A car has hundreds of millions of lines of code, and loopholes are inevitable

Intelligent networked vehicles are composed of key systems such as perception systems (cameras, radars, maps and positioning), control systems (algorithms, chips, operating systems), and execution systems (integrated control systems). Li Yufeng of Shanghai University said: "The code of some smart cars has exceeded 100 million lines, and there are no security vulnerabilities, is it possible?" ”

According to the barrel theory of network security, the degree of security is determined by the "short board". Guo Hui, chief technology officer of SAIC Zhiji Automobile, said that the automotive industry has a very complex supply chain, such as a CNC system supplier designed with open source software, there may be security risks.

At the "Strong Net" Mimetic Defense International Elite Challenge held at the end of last year, 48 top teams at home and abroad carried out high-intensity "provocation" on 8 models of 16 models of intelligent networked vehicles, and in 72 hours, the car withstood more than 400,000 attacks, and finally screened out more than 300 effective vulnerabilities, effectively increasing the "safety board".

Wu Jiangxing, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said that the functional safety of the traditional automotive industry has strict quantitative standards and evaluation systems, but the network security problems of smart cars cannot be measured, and whether the on-board network is safe is still a conceptual expression. Therefore, it is necessary to have institutions to solve the key technical problems of intelligent networked vehicle safety, promote the application of China's unique endogenous security technology, and provide highly reliable, highly available and highly credible network security guarantee for the digital transformation and intelligent evolution of the manufacturing industry.

Instead of "making up for the dead sheep", it is better to "strengthen yourself"

"Finding loopholes" is to make up for the dead sheep, which requires a lot of manpower and material resources to find and remedy, but it is too difficult for such a highly complex integrated system as an intelligent networked car. From the challenge, some characteristics of the hacker's cyber attack on the car can be seen: in the first 5 hours, the car is almost unattended, and the more the deadline for the competition, the more intensive the attack. Even if good results are achieved, no one can guarantee that the loophole has been "cleared".

In this environment, "endogenous safety" is particularly important. "Endogenous security" is an innovative technology proposed by Chinese scientists in the field of network security for the world's common problems and stubborn diseases, the core of which is to adhere to and apply the system concept, and use architecture technology to give network life to obtain safety genes or "intrinsic" attributes, so that it has a strong "immunity" and can operate under the condition of "toxic carrier bacteria".

Li Yufeng introduced that his team and Purple Mountain Laboratory took the lead in proposing the integrated guarantee method of functional safety and network security of intelligent networked vehicles on the basis of the endogenous security theory pioneered in China, and the United Nations bus manufacturers and the Internet of Vehicles security technology team carried out the verification of endogenous safety automatic driving principles, initially formed a theoretical framework for the endogenous safety of intelligent networked vehicles, and achieved a number of expected results in the verification of basic principles, which is expected to be a "pain point" for the safety of the intelligent networked automobile industry. The solution explores a new path of high reliability, high credibility, and high availability.

Leverage the 10 trillion-level market to solve consumer worries

The McKinsey report said that over the next decade, the automotive industry will face dramatic changes that have never been seen in a century, and by 2030, the global automotive software and electronics market will grow to $469 billion. In another self-driving car survey of consumers around the world, it was found that their biggest concern is cybersecurity.

How to respond to consumer concerns and leverage the 10 trillion-level market? Shanghai issued the "Action Plan for Building a Cyber Security Industry Innovation Highland (2021-2023)", which clearly proposed to build 10 collaborative innovation centers for the network security industry and promote multi-party collaboration between industry, academia, research and application.

Academician Wu Jiangxing introduced that the newly established Collaborative Innovation Center for The Network Security Industry of Intelligent and Connected Vehicles is the first collaborative innovation center in the field of network security in Shanghai, which is jointly established by Shanghai University, Qianxin Technology Group Co., Ltd., SAIC Motor Group Co., Ltd. and Fudan University. In addition to focusing on technical issues such as building enterprise-level special vulnerability libraries and high-performance detection security tools, the center will also explore a series of issues of concern, such as auto insurance.

"Taking endogenous security as the basic standard of intelligent networked automobile machine system, embedding security genes from the 'bones', accelerating the deep integration with the insurance and financial industry, and formulating the standard specification of network security for intelligent networked vehicles, Shanghai will be expected to leverage the blue ocean market of future cars one step ahead of others." Wu Jiangxing said.
