In the long river of history, war is inevitable, whether it is a change of dynasty or social change, war is an indispensable and inevitable experience. In many wars in the history of our country, many brave and witty generals have emerged, and there are many legendary stories waiting for us to discover in the lives of each of them.
In an important stage in the history of our country, during the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, a famous general of the ROK army led his troops to flee in a hurry before they had even begun to fight, and the reason was that he inadvertently learned that his opponent was his former superior. The famous generals of the Rok army, who knew the skills of their old superiors, knew that they were invincible, and in order to reduce their losses, they hurriedly led their troops to retreat.

1. The ROK generals fled with their troops during the war
On October 15, 1950, the first battle of the First War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, in which our country participated, was officially launched, and due to the small number of troops participating in the war of our army at that time and the time for preparing for the war was very short, all the efforts made and all the plans prepared by our volunteer army before the war were not well brought into play. The movement form of this war was also forced to change from a blockade operation to a movement war interspersed with divisions.
For the sudden attack, the Un army was caught off guard, and for a time all their preparations were disrupted by our army, and the UN army on the Western Front was gradually defeated. Since the enemy did not have a thorough understanding of the situation in our army, the Volunteer Command seized this favorable condition and inflicted a heavy blow on the enemy. However, due to the disparity in strength between the two sides of the army, the offensive speed of the United Nations army on the Eastern Front has still not been contained, and the situation on the battlefield is still not optimistic.
The commanders of the 50th Army had been instructed not to enter the Korean War, so their equipment was donated to the front line supporting Korea, but on October 24, they were told to enter the Korean War quickly. When notified, they rushed to the designated location. But at this time, they had no map or guide, and they did not dare to advance at full speed, for fear of being discovered and bombed by enemy aircraft.
They stumbled to their designated position 5 days after the war had begun, at which point they only caught the tail of the last section of the campaign. The Chinese army launched many crazy attacks on the enemy army according to Zhiji's deployment, and the enemy general Bai Shanye did not know at this time that the opponent on the other side had become a Chinese army, but was surprised at why the combat effectiveness of the Korean People's Volunteer Army, which had become a lost dog, was suddenly so strong.
During the war, a soldier of the 50th Army unfortunately took the wrong route and arrived at the town of Unsan, where the South Korean army was stationed, and they took the soldier back for interrogation and found his identity as a Chinese soldier. One of the soldiers in charge of interrogating the Chinese soldiers did not dare to be idle, and hurriedly delivered the contents of the interrogation to the hands of the division commander Bai Shanye.
At this time, Bai Shanye found that there was a name on the list that frightened him, which was Wang Jiashan, the commander of the 150th Division of the Volunteer Army. This division commander was his own old cadre before, and Bai Shanye knew very well how his old cadres were capable, and his presence here must indicate that the Chinese army had entered the DPRK and helped the Korean army start fighting.
In order to prevent his troops from being completely annihilated, he applied to the American army for a retreat. He withdrew from his position that night with his remaining troops, and what happened afterwards proved to be very accurate. As soon as the handover was completed, the volunteers suddenly launched an attack, and the American troops who were handed over to him suffered a devastating blow, and the entire team was annihilated. The army left by Bai Shanye only lost less than 200 people.
Second, Bai Shanye's fame experience
Bai Shanye's childhood was very poor, and when he grew up, he entered the military school run by the Japanese, and after graduation, he directly joined the "Island Special Team" of the Japanese Kwantung Army. From an early age, he was discovered and reused by the Japanese. Not long after, he was arrested by the Red Army before Japan surrendered. In order to save his life, he fled to Pyongyang, North Korea, to join a populist organization, and later Kim Il Sung unified northern Korea with the support of the Soviet Union.
Fearing that his defection to the Japanese would be discovered, he absconded to South Korea to attend a military English school run by the Americans. His ingenuity would be discovered everywhere, and his intelligence helped him gain the appreciation of the Americans, and from then on his career began to be smooth and prosperous. In the short three years from 1949 to 1953, he achieved more than those who entered the army as children, and even eventually rose to the rank of general.
Bai Shanye's promotion shows that his ability is not only to sneak and shoot horses and left and right, but also to be very prominent among people of his same level, which is also an important reason why Americans value him. His prestige was also very high among his colleagues, because he was more sympathetic to his subordinates than others. Bai Shanye's most outstanding ability is to judge the hour and size up the situation; in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, several of the wars that Our country suffered were due to his command.
In 1950, At this time, Bai Sunye had a very ambitious goal in mind, that is, he wanted to make himself the first South Korean hero to liberate Seoul and enter Pyongyang. After a series of efforts, with his ingenuity, he finally completed his goal and became a hero of South Korea. At this time, he did not expect that all the glory he had now gained would be destroyed by the Chinese army.
The glory of the I dynasty was destroyed by the Chinese army
After learning that the Chinese army was in the war and that the leader was his old superior, Bai Shanye quickly retreated and saved his team. The United States did not believe that Chinese dared to go to war with the American army, and still ordered the combined forces to speed up the attack, and the real war was officially launched. After many fierce wars. The combined army on the eastern and western fronts was annihilated by the volunteer army, and the army led by Bai Shanye retreated completely, which gave him a lot of confidence that the Chinese army was not very terrible.
But just 10 days later, he will get a taste of what the real Chinese Army is like. In the 1st war, Bai Shanye luckily escaped the end of being annihilated, and the 2nd time found a suitable substitute ghost, the ambitious Bai Shanye wanted to fight the volunteer army in the 3rd war, who knew that he not only did not meet the expectations in his heart, but was only broken by the volunteer army in only 13 hours.
It all stemmed from his ignorance of his opponents. More than half a century later, his first trip to China was to ask who had defeated him, and then he realized that he was only a 30-year-old young general of his own age. At this time, he finally let go of the doubts that had haunted him for half a lifetime.
epilogue
In every war, it is so important to understand the strength of the opponent, to know oneself and the other, to win every battle, and only by understanding the strength of the enemy can we adjust the corresponding strategy. We cannot deny that Bai Shanye's military talent is very good, but it is precisely because of his overconfidence in himself that he has lost the war, blindly confident, and arrogant soldiers will be defeated.
