When Yu Youren's mother died, he was not yet 2 years old, and his father had to go out to earn a living. Therefore, Yu Youren's birth mother, Sister Zhao, gave her only son to her younger sister Fang Shi before her death, hoping that she could raise her son instead of herself.
Although not her biological mother, Fang raised You Ren as her own son, and in the end, Mrs. Fang lived up to her expectations and undertook Yu Youren's life and education.

A year later, Yu Youren was already eighty-four years old, frail and sick, and his heart was miserable, knowing that he could not return to the mainland in this life, but he could not give up the hometown where he was born and grew up in Si, and could not let go of his wife and relatives and friends.
Later, he wrote the famous long poem "Looking at the Mainland" to express his thoughts about the motherland, which is not a nostalgia for his wife.

On November 10, 1964, Yu Youren died at the age of 86, and he kept a safe deposit box in a Taiwan bank, which people thought was a very valuable thing.
When his eldest son opened his father's safe, everyone was heartbroken, and there was nothing in it that had anything to do with money.
In addition to Yu Youren's diaries and letters in the safe, there were only a batch of arrears of bills, and the only thing left was his wife in the mainland, gao Zhonglin once sewed cloth shoes for him, which was perhaps his most precious thing!
After Yu Youren's death, his body was buried on Datun Mountain, the highest mountain in Taipei. Later, Taiwan's climbers erected a bust facing the mainland at the top of Yushan Peak, at an altitude of 3,997 meters.
This is also Yu Youren's last wish, although he cannot be reunited with his family, he can look at the top of the mountain from a distance, look at his hometown, and look at the wife he has missed for decades.
