Today we come to know the word "into rù".

【Glyph evolution】

The shapes of the oracle bone, the golden script, and the seal script all indicate the meaning of entering from top to bottom. The so-called upper and lower, that is, the meaning of the outside and the inside, to show the meaning of entering the inside from the outside. All of the above forms are based on imaginary images. In the six books, it belongs to the referential matter. The Warring States script, with an extra horizontal pen, can be regarded as a boundary line to show the difference between inside and outside, which is still a matter of reference. The shape of the book is changed, and the script is fixed along it, so it is not easy to understand its initial form.

【The Story of the Word】

No entry through the door

One Kanji a day - into

Pronunciation: guò mén bù rù

Source: Mencius Leaving Lou Xia

Explanation: It means passing by the door of the house and not going in. Describe conscientiousness, public and selflessness. From Mencius.

Story: Legend has it that Yu took people to repair his own door three times, but he didn't go in to see it. Once, his wife Tu Shan gave birth to a son Qi, the baby was crying wow, Yu passed outside the door, heard the crying, and did not go in to visit. To this day, there are still such songs in the countryside: one goes through the door to listen to the scolding, the second goes through the door to listen to laughter, the third goes through the door to carry the oral message, and the flood is calmed and transferred to the home. These four ordinary household words reflect Dayu's sense of professionalism and responsibility. The news of Yu San's inadvisibility spread all over the place, and people were very touched.

Later, people used the term "not entering the door" to describe conscientiousness, public and selflessness.
