Zhu Zhenrong told reporters about his experience in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

Battle of Changsha

"I went to the battlefield when I was 17 years old..." Speaking of participating in the war, 100-year-old Zhu Zhenrong still remembers it vividly.

At the beginning of 1938, the 17-year-old Zhu Zhenrong was captured by the Nationalist government and added to the 79th Army of the National Revolutionary Army. Before the war, he immediately followed the troops into Zhejiang to fight with Japan.

"Pay attention to concealment, don't move around..." As soon as the squad leader finished speaking, not far from Zhu Zhenrong's position, the Japanese plane dropped a bomb. Zhu Zhenrong said that after continuous fighting, he was the only one left in the class to survive.

But for Zhu Zhenrong, the most tragic battle was not this time, but the defense of Changsha.

In September 1939, the Defense of Changsha began, and Zhu Zhenrong's unit participated in the battle.

Zhu Zhenrong compared the scene when he was fighting.

"At that time, each of us had written a suicide note and didn't want to get out alive." Zhu Zhenrong said.

In the Second Battle of Changsha, Zhu Zhenrong charged forward, undaunted, and fought fiercely with the Japanese army. In a counter-charge battle, the machine gunner next to Zhu Zhenrong was killed, and Zhu Zhenrong quickly replaced him, became a machine gunner, and began to strafe at the Japanese army, losing the enemy fire point. During the fierce battle with the Japanese army, he was hit by the Japanese machine gun, seriously injured, and immediately fell unconscious, and was carried to the field hospital for treatment.

After recovering from his wounds, Zhu Zhenrong continued to fight against Japan with his troops, and successively moved to many provinces, making his own contribution to defending against the Japanese Kou. In 2015, he was awarded the Medal for the 70th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

Keep the peace

In 1949, the Southwest Campaign began. In this campaign, Zhu Zhenrong was incorporated into the 4th Company of the 2nd Battalion of the 104th Regiment of the 35th Division of the 12th Army as the leader of the cooking squad after the uprising with the troops.

"To safeguard peace and defend the motherland is to protect the hometown..." In 1951, Zhu Zhenrong joined the DPRK with his troops to participate in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and served as a squad leader in the 35th Division of the 12th Army of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army, and joined the Communist Party of China in November of the same year.

"We all marched at night to avoid being spotted by U.S. aircraft." Speaking of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, Zhu Zhenrong said, "On the Korean battlefield, the march relied on its legs, and its legs were cramped and puffy. ”

In the Battle of Shangganling, the US military used hundreds of artillery pieces and dozens of aircraft to bomb Zhu Zhenrong's position, and a strong shock wave stirred the tunnel, and many people's teeth were knocked out, and their lips and tongues were also broken.

"Squad leader, the enemy has come up..." As soon as the bombing stopped, the US stormtroopers rushed toward Zhu Zhenrong's position.

"Fight!" Zhu Zhenrong led his troops to kill the enemy bravely, repelled the enemy's charge again and again, and finally won the victory.

But he still braved hardships and fought bravely. In 1951, Zhu Zhenrong was awarded the second class meritorious service once; in 1952, he was awarded the third class meritorious service once and the collective first class meritorious service once in the Battle of Jincheng; in 2020, he was awarded the commemorative medal for the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army's war to resist the United States and aid Korea.

Promote development

After the end of the Korean War, Zhu Zhenrong returned to the motherland with his troops. In 1955, after zhu Zhenrong retired from the army, he returned to Changsheng Town, Ningdu County, to work as a farmer in Zhangkeng Village, Changsheng Town, Ningdu Province, to support the construction of his hometown.

"I left my hometown when I was 17 years old and walked for 17 years." Zhu Zhenrong said, "I want to go home and use the rest of my life to build my hometown." ”

Muddy roads, dilapidated houses, lack of means of production... This is Zhu Zhenrong's first impression of his hometown after returning to his hometown. Faced with this scene, Zhu Zhenrong quickly integrated into the collective, carried out production and construction, and helped the construction of his hometown. In the production team, he carried forward the excellent work style of the revolutionary soldiers who were not afraid of hardship and tiredness, rushed to the front and worked in front of everything, and the production team from the top to the leadership of the villagers praised him.

"One year, there was a shortage of food, and many people in the village were hungry." Neighbors in the same village said. In order to increase grain production as much as possible and let everyone have enough to eat, Zhu Zhenrong used the skills he learned in the army to innovate farming methods and actively carry out production with the villagers, so as to increase grain production. At the same time, he also used the wilderness survival skills he learned on the Korean battlefield to find wild vegetables, live fish and other foods in the mountains and rivers to increase the food supply.

"I am a party member, and I should be at the forefront in any difficult time." Zhu Zhenrong said that he hopes to contribute some strength to his hometown through his own hands.

Compared with the outstanding merits on the battlefield, Zhu Zhenrong's achievements in supporting the construction of his hometown are ordinary and ordinary, but he has worked hard for decades and has not tried to make a name, and has been widely praised by the villagers.

The vicissitudes of the sea and the mulberry fields, a hundred years in a flash. Zhu Zhenrong, a hundred-year-old veteran of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, has experienced too much and too much, and has also witnessed the motherland's transformation from poverty and backwardness to prosperity and strength. "I am content with my current life, and I don't need any other honors, shrapnel is my military merit badge." Zhu Zhenrong said, "On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the party, may the motherland be stronger!" ”
