The "My Art List" program group will enter the Museum of Modern Chinese Literature this week. Inside the museum stands a Western-style building, with a Chinese-style garden, picturesque and quiet. Step by step, every scene reflects the meaning of literature. Deputy Curator Li Er won the 10th Mao Dun Literature Award in 2019 for his work "Ying Wu Brother", and we will follow Li Er's footsteps today to tour this literary temple and explore the artistic list of writer Li Er.

"Foolish" fellow
The first work on Li Er's art list is the fable "Yugong Moves Mountains", "Because I am a native of Jiyuan, Henan, the story of Yugong takes place in Jiyuan". This text, which requires "memorizing the full text" in primary schools, is well known to everyone, and the beautiful mountains, waters, and humanities in Jiyuan are engraved in Li Er's heart.
The scenery of Wangwu Mountain is a beautiful memory of Li Er's childhood, and the landscape pictures of his hometown have become the source of Li Er's literary creation. The first works of many writers' "art lists" originate from their hometowns, which shows that their hometown and childhood have a profound impact on life.
The second work on Li Er's art list also carries his strong homesickness. "Hometown drama" - the more tune "Collect Jiang Wei", often moves Li Er to tears. This opera repertoire, which is based on the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", presents a sense of grandeur under the high-pitched and desolate melody of Henan Yue. Among them, the open-minded temperament of the opera characters has also become a reference for Li Er's life. In the relatively barren era, it was these textured vocal cavities that enlightened Li Er's mind when he was young and broadened the pace of his life.
Li Er's father was a Chinese teacher, and thanks to the influence of his father, he was exposed to reading earlier than his peers. Both literary masterpieces and modern and contemporary works have given him literary enlightenment. Li Er graduated from the Department of Chinese of East China Normal University, which has cultivated many literary talents. The self-study classroom that was clear all night made Li Er and literary writing form an indissoluble relationship.
Whether in the countryside of Henan, the city of Shanghai, or the quiet pure land of the Beijing Modern Literature Museum, Li Er has been nourished by literature.
"Harvest" life
Founded in July 1957 with the aim of publishing outstanding contemporary Works of China, Harvest is the earliest large-scale literary journal founded in New China, with Ba Jin and Jin Yi as editors-in-chief.
After 60 years of development, Harvest has always been one of the most influential brands of Chinese literary publications. Many famous works in the history of contemporary Chinese literature are the first to move from "Harvest" to readers. With the encouragement and introduction of his brother Ge Fei, Li Er published his own "famous work" in Harvest magazine, "The Mentor Is Dead", which attracted the attention of the literary world and has since embarked on the road of professional writers.
In 2011, Li Er came to work at the Museum of Modern Literature, where he found the hometown of his soul. There is a famous "comma stone" here. The hole in the middle of the boulder naturally forms the shape of a comma.
"There are only commas, which belong to modern literature, and it is an important sign." Li Er attaches great importance to the meaning of this comma, "The comma represents never ending, and it also shows that our literature has no end." The first time we used commas was in 1920, and we used to use '之, 胡, 者,也' to represent breaks and pauses." Li Er took the program group to visit the Museum of Modern Chinese Literature, and during the walk, he met the statues of the literary masters in the museum: the softness of the ice heart, the edges and corners of Lu Xun, the thin but powerful Ba Jin... They are all quietly guarding the pure land of the Modern Literature Museum.
The design of the door handle of the entrance door is also unique, it is made of the mark of Mr. Barkin's palm, when the door is pushed open, everyone will be opposite to Mr. Barkin's heart, which is the unique romance of the Museum of Literature.
Tribute to "Dream of the Red Chamber" with "Ying Wu Brother"
The fourth work on Li Er's art list is "Dream of the Red Chamber", which is a famous work that he began to contact when he was a child, and it is also a work that he has studied for many years and never tires of reading. Writers' love for literary classics always has more profound thinking, and Li Er's book "Ying Wu Brother", which won the "Mao Dun Literature Award", is his "continuation" and tribute to "Dream of the Red Chamber", and it is also a way to think about the changes in life with literature. Although the story content of "Ying Wu Brother" is not directly related to "Dream of the Red Chamber", the shaping of the characters and the twists and turns of fate are all reflections on the ultimate problems of life.
The context is an important clue of history, and writers are using fictional stories to describe real lives.
In this issue, you will see the writer Li Er leading everyone to visit the Museum of Modern Chinese Literature, walk into the study exhibition of famous literary artists, and see the original manuscripts of Mr. Ba Jin...
This episode will air on January 6 at 20:57, CCTV-3, so stay tuned.
