CES 2022: Hesai Technology's new close-range ultra-wide-angle lidar QT128

At this CES exhibition, Hesai Technology released a new generation of vehicle-grade lidar. In addition to the automotive-grade semi-solid-state lidar AT128, which was exhibited for the first time, a new close-range ultra-wide-angle lidar QT128 was released. It's a blindfolded radar for self-driving applications like L4-level robotaxi and robotruck, with an ultra-wide vertical field of view of 105° that clearly identifies people and objects at close range around the body. The QT128 will be delivered in series production in the first quarter of 2023.

The QT128 has the following highlights:

1) 105 degree vertical field of view, the highest of similar products. Through tilt installation, it can completely cover the blind area of the body, conical barrels, small animals and other low obstacles, and can also detect high places such as three-dimensional garages and high-rise buildings.

2) The QT128 has 128 vertical lines, twice as many as the previous generation architecture. Through the design of the line number distribution, the minimum horizontal and vertical resolution of the QT128 encryption area is 0.4 degrees, which has almost reached the resolution level of the long-distance main radar, and even the dynamic movement process as small as a ping-pong ball can be accurately captured by the QT128.

3) High quality reflectivity information. Compared with the previous generation architecture, the QT128 adds effective reflectance information and ensures high accuracy, greatly improving the ability to identify and classify lane lines, signs, and other objects.

4) Vehicle specification level reliability. The QT128 follows the automotive product development process from design to verification, and the reliability test is strictly performed according to the top OEM standards, with ultra-high reliability and longer service life.

Through flexible mounting positions, the QT128, combined with the long-range main radar, can make the autonomous vehicle obtain a complete field of view of 360 degrees, both near and far.

In addition, Hesai also exhibited a full range of product matrix at CES 2022: "Ji Huang" - image-level ultra-high resolution long-range radar Pandar128, zero-blind zone high-precision medium-range radar XT32, lightweight 300-meter ultra-long-range radar XT32M2X, and ultra-wide-angle close-range blindness repair radar QT series. These products have been widely used in unmanned taxis, autonomous trucks, unmanned minibuses, unmanned delivery robots, smart cities and other applications.
