Hai Rui Wisdom Trial Case: The beautiful young woman entered the temple to avoid the rain and disappeared, and Hai Rui solved the case under the guise of a bodhisattva apparition

During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, when Hai Rui was serving as Chun'an Zhi County, a young woman went home and encountered heavy rain halfway through, so she went to a nearby temple to avoid the rain. Unexpectedly, the old monk in the temple saw that the young woman was beautiful and had evil thoughts, but the young woman was only interested in the young monk and resolutely disobeyed the old monk.

The old monk, enraged, actually killed the young woman and buried the body in the backyard of the temple. After the young woman disappeared, the in-laws and the mother-in-law's family could not find anyone, blamed each other, and because of the dispute, they finally sued the yamen and found Hai Rui to make a decision.

Hai Rui sent a young subordinate, dressed as an ordinary person, to secretly scout, and learned that the young woman had passed by the temple to avoid the rain. This subordinate, for several days, messed with the monks of the temple, and from the mouth of Xiao Shami, he learned that the old monk had harmed the young woman.

The next day, Hai Rui took a cadre of servants and others into the temple to burn incense, and the old monks of the temple came out to accompany them as usual. When I saw Hai Rui burning incense, I suddenly looked up at the sky in front of everyone, as if listening to something. After a while, Hai Rui suddenly bowed to the sky again, and said in a loud voice, "Got it, got it!" ”

The old monk's heart was weak, and his face suddenly changed dramatically. When Hai Rui saw this, he immediately shouted, "The bodhisattva has already told me that you (the old monk) killed the young woman, and you should not confess quickly, so as not to suffer from the flesh and skin!" “

After saying this, he led the servants, with tools, to the backyard, and sure enough, the body of the young woman was exhumed in the backyard. The old monk thought that Hai Rui had really received the guidance of the bodhisattva, and in a panic, he truthfully confessed that he wanted to violate the young woman, and after killing the man, the monk confessed, and the case was solved.

It can be seen that Hai Rui is indeed extraordinary in trying cases and judging cases, and under the premise that there is no modern technology such as fingerprint extraction in ancient times, the trial of cases often requires the trial officer and the criminal to fight psychological warfare, and carefully give the criminals "the next set", which stimulates the criminals to admit themselves, otherwise the criminals will die and confess, and it will be difficult to close the case.

There are many more stories about Hai Rui's use of wisdom to judge cases, such as "Liu Song's wrongdoing in Mingxiang, Deciding East".

It is said that at that time, there was a man named Liu Song in Dongming Township, Chun'an County, who went out to do business and did not return home for a long time. Liu Song's father went out to look for his son, and later found a scale used by his son in an inn where his son Liu Song often lived, and he insisted that the owner of the inn had killed his son, sued Yamen, and begged Lord Hairui to file a complaint for him.

Hai Rui listened to Liu Song's father's crying and felt that this matter was not so simple. Hai Rui secretly thought, "If it is true that the shopkeeper killed Liu Song, the shopkeeper should destroy both the scale rod and the scale in order to destroy the trace." Since it is placed intact in the store, it means that the murderer is not the owner." In order not to scare the snake, Hai Rui hung the case in the air and secretly sent someone to search for it.

Half a year later, Ya Gong found Liu Song's body in a place called the Three Officials Camp, except for a white cloth turban next to the body, without any murder weapon or other clues.

Hai Rui started from the white cloth turban, and after he checked, he found that it was a white cloth turban that was only used when handling funerals at that time, so he sent someone to investigate whose family handled the funeral half a year ago, and finally found Zhu Shouxian's family. Hai Rui sent someone to Zhu Shouxian's house to search, and sure enough, he found the stolen goods and murder weapons.

In the lobby, Zhu Shouxian confessed that he had two other accomplices. When Hai Rui heard this, he was worried that his accomplices would get the news and run away, so he pretended to be angry in the lobby and shouted: "Since you killed someone, you can die alone, so why implicate others for no reason!" With that said, he asked the servants to take Zhu Shouxian to prison and announce the conclusion of the case tomorrow.

The other two accomplices heard that Hai Rui was only pursuing Zhu Shouxian and that the case would be closed in the next day, so they relaxed their vigilance and did not flee. Unexpectedly, after Hai Rui put Zhu Shouxian in prison, he immediately asked Zhu Shouxian who the other two were and where they lived. Early the next morning, two other people were arrested and arrested, and the three of them pleaded guilty together.
