parse:

This is the scene in the inner page where Bao'er wakes up in the middle of the night and her mother is gone, which best represents the scene of guarding her mother. Bao'er went out anxiously to find his mother' picture, the eyes turned blue, the image was longing, it was penetration, and the change in eye color was an important stroke in the inner picture.

"Bao'er" is based on "Jia'er" in "Liaozhai Zhiyi", from the first edition of "Deserted Garden Fox Spirit" to the re-edition of "Bao'er", telling the story of a child who bravely fights the fox in order to protect his mother. If I had such a brave and intelligent child, I would love him and name him "Bao'er", so that I could proudly say out loud in front of others: "This is my bao'er!" ”

"Liaozhai Zhiyi" is a collection of literary short stories, the pinnacle of classical Chinese literary fiction, behind those superficially strange gods and ghosts, there is a deeper and broader world. The author Pu Songling began to write from the age of more than 30, and it was not until his later years that he collected his armpits into Qiu qiu, becoming this "book of lonely indignation", but only in manuscripts for fifty years before his death and after his death. "Liaozhai" is the name of Pu Songling's book house, "Zhi" is to record events, and "different" refers to strange, bizarre, and grotesque stories, in which the stories are full of irony and reference significance for reality.

The color of Bao'er's big red and green clothes on the cover, in the dignified and serious black background, does not have a frivolous and vulgar taste, but is lively and eye-catching. Black reflects reality, connecting the society with the difficult life, and also connecting the mysterious world of Liaozhai.

The waist cover of the book reads: The most selfless and fearless thing in the world is not the love of the mother, but the love of the child. This sentence is very intriguing, contrary to our usual cognition, and will definitely trigger heated discussions among readers. But in "Bao'er", the child is indeed the most selfless and fearless, and it also highlights the importance of Bao'er's role.

【Ring lining】

A story that transcends the self with courage and wisdom to hunt foxes and save mothers - "Bao'er" intensive reading

The front and back rings are lined with jujube red as the background, and the brightness is low, creating a deep, grumbling story atmosphere, conveying a stable, mature, warm and solemn psychological feeling.

Red is the color of fire and blood, also known as the color of passion, action and anger. The deep jujube red color was used to drive away evil spirits in ancient times.

【Title Page】

A story that transcends the self with courage and wisdom to hunt foxes and save mothers - "Bao'er" intensive reading

The clumsy title, the few yellowed leaves that fall, and the pure white background allow the reader to escape into the realm of imagination. Borrowing the unique scenery of autumn - falling leaves, the protagonist is compared to the falling leaves floating in the air, indicating the helplessness and desolation of the body. The title page implies that this is an unusual beginning. What kind of little boy is Bao'er? It's worth looking forward to.

Original text: A long time ago, Bao'er and his parents lived in an old mansion and lived a happy and peaceful life. Bao'er's father was a businessman, and one day, he went out to do business, leaving only his wife Bao'er at home.

The beginning of an ancient and calm story, explaining the time, place and characters, the happy and peaceful atmosphere of a family of three, the identity of the male owner as a businessman, and the wife and children who stayed at home. China's unique home style, auspicious zigzag pattern and carving. The family structure within the male and female protagonists, the social situation in which the father re-educates and the mother takes care of the housework. Harmonious and peaceful, warm and happy.

As for the feelings between parents and between mothers and Bao'er, there is no direct text description in the book. The solemn expression of the father carrying a bag and leading the horse out of the door saw his worries and uneasiness, which made the reader also anxious.

An important connection between the left and right pages is Bao'er's hair braid and the horse's mane braid, Bao'er's three pigtails highlight the cuteness of the child and the love of the parents, and the horse's mane is also combed into side-by-side braids, showing that the owner's love for the horse is like his own child. Instead of galloping across the horse, standing side by side, one is nostalgia for home, and the other is the love for the horse.

The left page of the composition folio is a frameless full painting, the right page is a close-up of the surrounding blank space, and the related text is placed above the right page.

The storyline mostly takes place at night, and the thick sense of form and texture effect thickly render the atmosphere of the night.

original:

In the middle of the night, it was dark, and Bao'er and her mother were asleep. Suddenly, the door creaked and opened...

When she got up in the morning, Bao'er found her mother lying on the bed with a pale face.

He hurriedly shook his mother awake. When my mother woke up, she was still confused and couldn't speak clearly, as if she had been frightened by something.

The original text of "Jia'er" is that the merchant is out doing business, and his wife is haunted by a male fox spirit, dreaming of intercourse with others and insanity. "Bao'er" vaguely avoids this, using the male fox spirit to go to Bao'er's mother's room at night, and the mother has been confused since then, as if frightened, and vaguely avoids the bondage of love, so that a yellow love story with a fox demon evolves into a heroic example of driving away the demon and saving the mother.

It was an indoor overlook, the oil lamp had been extinguished, and a man with a fan in his hand sneakily pulled open the door to spy on the movement inside the house, leaving a bright light on the ground. Bao'er is already ten years old in the original text, and from the two pairs of shoes side by side in the bedroom, it can be seen that Bao'er and her mother sleep together, and Bao'er's red shoes are much larger than her mother's green shoes, which shows that Bao'er has grown up and can resist one side.

On the right, an ancient bedridden bed is taken out separately to highlight its storyline, and Bao'er also plays the role of protecting her mother for her father. Bao'er got up early instead of lying on the bed waiting for her mother to greet her. Thus discovering his mother's abnormal behavior, he anxiously took his mother's hand.

The story of demons and ghosts, if not handled by the writer, is not very suitable for young children to read. Because premature exposure of children to horror stories will make children feel insecure and dare not try new things, which is not conducive to children's psychological growth.

To this end, the author omits the content that is not suitable for young children to read, and ignites the vitality of classical Chinese folk tales through a new infectious and impactful form of illustration, which makes young children fall in love.

At night, my mother became frightened again. Bao'er stayed with her mother and looked after her. In the middle of the night, he couldn't help but doze off.

Suddenly, Bao'er woke up in shock: "Mother! Then he reached out and touched it, and the bed was empty and his mother was gone!

Bao'er quickly lit the lamp and looked around.

In an empty room, he saw his mother lying there, unconscious.

Since then, Bao'er's mother has been haunted by foxes and has become delirious. One night, I came to another empty room for some reason. The original text is "the mother lies naked inside", and the picture is shown with two scattered red and green ribbons.

Bao'er saw that her mother was delirious, distressed and anxious, and at this time, Bao'er seemed to be her mother's protective god. At night, I stayed with my mother, did not dare to sleep, and could not help but doze off, but when I woke up in the middle of the night, my mother still had symptoms.

At this time, Bao'er was eagerly dressed and looked around for her mother, and her eyes turned blue. This scene is used as a cover by the latest version, one is to highlight the urgency of protecting the mother, and the other is the change in eyes and expressions, highlighting the brave responsibility of a little boy.

What's going on here?

Bao'er pondered as she looked around. Suddenly, it was as if he had thought of something.

The next day, Bao'er found bricks and mortar, and sealed the bedroom windows tightly, leaving only the door to enter and exit. He quietly took a kitchen knife from the kitchen and hid it next to him...

At night, my mother fell asleep. Bao'er turned off the lights and hid behind the bed and waited quietly.

In the middle of the night, the door made a slight creaking sound—

For two consecutive nights, the symptoms of her mother made Bao'er puzzled.

Bao'er was determined to find out the reason, he himself moved bricks to seal the doors and windows of his mother's door, leaving only an entrance and exit of the door, even in the process of moving bricks, he was also pondering the reasons for it. The eyes turned blue to show clear thinking.

When his mother fell asleep, he quietly held a knife all night guarding his mother's door. The composition seen through the crack in the door has the effect of a bold and meticulous detective.

In the middle of the night, the door made a slight creaking sound again——

Does the young reader's heart already lift the heart?

[5th screen]

A story that transcends the self with courage and wisdom to hunt foxes and save mothers - "Bao'er" intensive reading

At this time, Bao'er roared, jumped up, and preemptively blocked the door. Only to see a black shadow swoop over. It was too late, it was fast, and Bao'er took the knife in his hand and fell! The shadow snatched the door and fled...

When Bao'er lit the lamp, there was a bloody fox tail on the ground!

Bits and pieces of blood stretched to the side of the courtyard wall, and finally disappeared into the deserted garden next door.

A black shadow jumped over, Bao'er took the knife in his hand and fell, only to hear a strange cry of "squeak", and the black shadow quickly disappeared into the night. Bao'er took a picture of the lamp oil, and there was a fox tail! It turned out that the guy was a fox spirit, and the fox spirit just escaped by cutting off its tail and did not die.

Bao'er dropped the knife and slashed at the black shadow, and three-quarters of the black roof on the picture was pressed with a green open space and the background was red for the figure, and the whole picture had an elegant and bright beauty.

The red of Bao'er in the right picture and the yellow and green in the background together form a large triangle composition, so that the whole picture beats with a steady sense of rhythm, which is exactly in contrast with the picture of the falling knife, which is the continuation of the plot. The sub-shot in the picture on the right is a combination of the moments of the brave fox spirit, and also vividly reproduces the link of Bao'er Zhiyong, from picking up the lamp blue eye to find the cut fox tail, to watching the blood left by the fox spirit's escape, to the picture of cross-legged scratching his head and closing his eyes, the three consecutive actions show Bao'er's bravery and wisdom very realistically. Bao'er's eyes and the candle lamp he holds are the eyes of the whole story's pictorial language, and Bao'er, who is simple but does not lose his childlike fun and wisdom, jumps on the paper.

Bao'er's eyes in the story are drawn by the author in several colors. With the eerie ups and downs of the plot, Bao'er's eyes are sometimes black and sometimes blue. Cai Gao said that blue represents the clarity of unpolluted, like a lake. In the child's blue eyes, the fox spirit instantly appeared in its original form.

When Cai Gao said about the color of Bao'er's eyes: "Children are smarter than adults, and children's eyes are clearer." In those eyes, which are as clear as the water of the lake, everything can appear in its original form. Those eyes are changing in a given situation, but adults are generally not easy to detect, because adults are trapped by smell and knowledge, and their vision can no longer be so clear, which is helpless, unless we deliberately remove the veil and learn a clarity from the child."

Soon, my father came home. The mother, who had become insane, shouted at her father, not knowing him at all.

The father was surprised and worried, and invited several Langzhong to treat his mother in succession, but langzhong could not do anything.

Only Bao'er knew that it must be the fox spirit still doing something wrong.

Soon after, my father returned. My father invited a lot of langzhong to come, but he didn't cure his mother's illness. You can see that the father with his hands on his chest is very anxious and seems to have nothing to do. Looking at her father's Bao'er, she knew very well the origin of her mother's illness, clenched fists, and a firm expression, Bao'er was already confident and had a winning strategy in her heart.

The close-up of the mother's madness and the mother lying on the bed in the crack of the door on the right, hanging her arms, indicate that the mother does not know the father and son at all. The family fell into an awkward and sad situation.

In the evening, Bao'er quietly came to the deserted garden, hid behind a pile of rocks, and waited quietly.

It was late at night, and in the hazy moonlight, there was suddenly a sound. Bao'er looked far away, and there were two people drinking in the pavilion in the deserted garden, and if they looked closely, there was an elderly servant waiting by the side.

After a while, only one of them could be heard laughing, "No, I still have to go to the old house, and tomorrow we will continue to drink." After muttering a few words to the old servant, the two of them staggered away.

The old servant drank the rest of the wine, fell asleep on the stone. When Bao'er looked, a fox tail appeared behind the old servant.

According to the pre-made plan, Bao'er sneaked in at night behind a pile of rocks in the desert garden next door where the fox spirit had disappeared. In the dead of night, the meeting of the three people and the secrets were finally discovered. Through the small picture on the right, a fox tail was revealed behind the sleeping old servant, and Bao'er understood the truth of the matter.

Bao'er knew that they would continue to drink here tomorrow, and she also realized the meaning of muttering to the old servant. It's about buying wine, because it's already drunk. The so-called late at night to go to the old house is the same as the experience encountered in your own home, to confuse others and disturb the peace of the family.

Bao'er did not immediately move, gave up hard fighting, and adopted a plan. He first detected the basic situation of the fox spirit, which laid the foundation for Bao'er's next action plan.

It can be seen that the detective's story is full of conflicts, and the plot is also full of ups and downs. For example, when Bao'er found that her mother was in a situation, she first had a preliminary countermeasure; then she swung a knife to cut off the fox's tail, but found that the trouble was still continuing; when she tracked down to the desert garden to find the truth, she had to calmly continue to think about the countermeasures, and the plot developed one by one, naturally forming a relaxed rhythm.

A ten-year-old has far more bravery than his peers, and even more than adults.

[8th screen]

That's the way it is. Bao Er thought about it and came up with a solution...

The next day, Bao'er asked his father to take him to the street to play, and when he passed the leather shop, he saw that there was a fox's tail hanging in the shop, so he clamored to buy one to play. His father couldn't help him, so he bought him one.

In a close-up, Bao'er crouched on the grass behind the pile of rocks, and thought quietly for a long time, and finally had a good idea: he asked his father to buy him a fox tail.

It can be seen that in the spatial perspective processing, the author always cleverly uses head-up, bird's eye view, silhouette, juxtaposition and other techniques to process the picture with decorative meaning, revealing a childish child's interest.

Black becomes an atmosphere in Bao'er, a structure, a contrast, a conflict, and even a deep and mysterious existence, like the eyes flickering in chaos and the sky. Not only did it not bring a sense of heaviness to the picture, but it made the red shirt worn by Bao'er more vibrant.

Cai Gao chose red and black with a strong contrasting relationship in color, and the pictures of big red and purple are very Chinese characteristics. The intense contrast of red and black colors echoes the tense rhythm of the story. The jump of red and the assistance of green stimulate each other, and in this contrast, it is natural to bring the reader into the depressing situation of the story.

This work may not necessarily be a children's pleasing style, but that kind of simplicity and honesty will certainly make children who love to think feel understanding and respect.

A story that transcends the self with courage and wisdom to hunt foxes and save mothers - "Bao'er" intensive reading

Bao'er went to her uncle's house, who often went out hunting, and said to her aunt, "Our family has been making a lot of noise lately, and my mother asked me to order rat poison."

"Take it well, be careful, this medicine can even be poisoned by tigers!" Aunt instructed Bao'er.

Bao'er went to a liquor store again, bought a bottle of wine, secretly poured the poison into it, made a mark on the bottle, and then said to the boss: "I have other things, come and get the wine later." You can't sell it to someone else, or my dad won't come to you again to buy wine!" The boss smiled and said, "Got it, got it."

Bao'er went to her aunt's house to ask for rat poison, and even the tiger could be poisoned to death. Knowing that the fox spirit asked the servant to buy wine, Bao'er went to a liquor store, bought a bottle of wine, and secretly poured poison into it.

Bao'er used her wisdom to prepare the plot of poisonous wine for the fox spirit, and the kind child deliberately explained more to the tavern owner in order to prevent the poisonous wine from accidentally hurting others, reflecting the child's carefulness and sense of responsibility.

This link about the treatment of poison, how to tell the children that reading is a tricky problem, this is inevitably a yellow and poisonous story, the yellow reader vaguely avoided, but also caused by what causes Bao'er to kill the other party? Just to make the mother delirious? And the poisoning link is also too explicit and insidious.

The paintings in this book use the gouache paintings that the author is good at, although the black background makes the picture somewhat dim, but the big red and green produce a gorgeous, soft, bright, and thick artistic effect, and the surface shows a unique beauty of matte velvety.

The author also recommends hand-drawn works, because cartoon picture books and computer-made picture books are relatively single in mode, while hand-drawn pictures will have personality in it, and there is a kind of handmade warmth in it. She said that in fact, when parents and children read picture books together, they should not be parents reading words to their children, but in the process of reading pictures, language is naturally produced, perhaps children will observe some details that parents can't see in pictures, he will ask questions, describe, and express, this language is produced because of pictures, so the quality of pictures is very important.

After doing this, Bao'er quietly stayed on the street not far from the liquor store. In the evening, sure enough, the old servant appeared in the street.

Bao'er tied the fox's tail around his waist and walked toward the old servant, pretending to have accidentally bumped into him, and deliberately revealing a section of his tail. The old servant was stunned when he saw Bao'er's exposed tail. Bao'er pretended to be panicked and wanted to flee, and the old servant quickly said, "Don't be afraid, don't be afraid, you see, I'm just like you!" As he spoke, he secretly revealed the tail under his apron to Bao'er.

Bao'er was ready to poison the fox essence, and then quietly stood next to the liquor store and began to trick the other party into the bait. Sure enough, seeing the old servant coming, Bao'er pretended to be a fox himself, and immediately surprised the other party and let down his guard. Because, too, he's a fox.

This picture is the cover of the Xinyi edition, a bird's-eye view, so that the reader can more clearly understand the connotation of the story. Let the two characters look majestically and the other sneakily, and the difference between the characters is clear at a glance. The picture on the right is a close-up of Bao'er seducing the fox spirit, and bao'er, who has courage and strategy, shows it.

Bao'er pretended to be relieved: "You are running so fast, where are you going?"

The old servant said, "I'm going to get some drinks for my master, and I don't have any money, so I have to steal them."

"Oh, if you get caught, you're in trouble." Bao'er said, "I happen to have a bottle of wine in the liquor store, if you don't want to give up, you can take it first." ”

After cheating the trust of the old servant, he took advantage of the situation and passed on the poisonous wine, that is, it was reasonable and reasonable, and the relationship was good, step by step, just waiting to be collected.

The story of Bao'er hunting and killing two male foxes with a plan is very clever and very well described, Bao'er first bought fox tails in the market, then went to the hunter's uncle's house to fool around with a large bottle of poison, and then stole money from his father to buy wine, mixed the poison in the wine, and finally met with the fox demon's servant in the tavern, and cleverly tricked the fox demon servant who came to buy wine to take away the fake wine mixed with medicine. In order to pretend to be a fox demon to gain the trust of the servants, the child also specially revealed the fox tail he bought. It's amazing, it's amazing.

"Jia'er" in "Liaozhai" tells the story of love ghosts, but after the author's re-creation, "Bao'er" is also warm, humid and enthusiastic. The plot content in the original story that is not suitable for children to read is diluted, and the overall narrative style is more calm and less dialogue. Because Bao'er is very special, itself has a state that exceeds that of ordinary children, and has the wisdom and calmness that can withstand adults, so it is not easy to design the dialogue too much like children's language.

[12th screen]

A story that transcends the self with courage and wisdom to hunt foxes and save mothers - "Bao'er" intensive reading

The old servant was very happy when he heard this, and he was not polite, so he followed Bao'er to the liquor store.

Bao'er took out the bottle of wine and handed it to him. The old servant thanked and thanked and went back happily.

In the deserted garden, the long-awaited master saw the old servant returning with wine, poured a glass of wine happily, and drank it all: "Hey, good wine, good wine!" While drinking, the master greeted the old servant and said, "Today's wine is good, you can also have a drink!" So the old servant drank too.

Bao'er gave the bottle of poisonous wine to the old servant, and the fox elves drank it happily.

There are many characters and rich scenes in this process. Bao'er and the old servant are the center of the picture and the core link of Bao'er's plan. In the hotel deal, he successfully deceived the old servant and deceived the unsuspecting fox elves.

A story that transcends the self with courage and wisdom to hunt foxes and save mothers - "Bao'er" intensive reading

This night, Bao'er's house was surprisingly calm, and her mother slept very peacefully.

After dawn, Bao'er led her father to the wasteland. In the wilderness, three foxes died there, and one of the foxes had a broken tail...

After dawn the next day, the three fox spirits died in the deserted garden, and the mother slept very peacefully, and Bao'er's family was surprisingly calm. This seems to make the young reader a little puzzled, the fox's death and the relationship between Bao'er's mother.

Bao'er unveiled the mystery little by little, and then defeated the monster, the color of the picture became bright again, and the simple and full of wisdom Bao'er saved the whole family.

Bao'er was not only intelligent and brave, but also stoic and composed, completing a series of tasks such as tracking, reconnaissance, design, preparing fox tails, wine, poison, etc. alone, and finally waiting for the success of undercover, so that the three fox spirits unconsciously drank poisoned wine and died overnight. The merchant's wife is confused and the merchant is absent, but the little Bao'er takes the initiative to stand up and assume the responsibility of "rescuing" the mother and eradicating the demon fox.

Bao'er had the courage to come up with a plan alone to poison the fox elves and save his mother, all of which bao'er's feelings for her mother produced a sense of mission to protect him to do, and her mother became a weak person in the story and needed to be protected.

The bravery and wisdom embodied by Bao'er in the struggle against ghosts is incomprehensible to children in modern society. They will ask, what bad thing has the fox spirit done to be punished? What means did the fox spirit use to make Bao'er's mother fascinated? And the children will also ask why Bao'er can poison the fox to death? How could his relatives give the poison to the child? Will you be speechless! Are these kinds of stories really not suitable for children?

The father was stunned. Bao'er then told the story of the incident one by one: "Father, if you make a noise in advance, you may alarm the fox spirits, and it will be difficult to clean them up then." So, I can only do it quietly alone.

Listening to Bao'er's story, his father nodded his head in appreciation!

Since then, my mother's strange illness has all been cured. The family lived a happy and peaceful life again.

The clever Bao'er, who is only ten years old, saved his mother and restored the family to a peaceful and harmonious life.

A ten-year-old has far more bravery than his peers, and even more than adults. Later, the child's actions exceeded the level of his peers, including the vast majority of adults who did not have his strategy. The meticulousness of his investigation, the cleverness of his design, the thoroughness of his actions, and the perfection of his layout fully demonstrate the qualities of a strategist. Most importantly, the child's secrecy was excellent throughout, until the death of the fox was confirmed, and he did not reveal any information to anyone.

Although stories such as monsters and fox spirits are somewhat terrifying and have a feeling of omnipotence, children are afraid but like to listen, and I believe that this can enrich children's imaginations.

Bao'er's father felt that his son was unusual, so he encouraged him to learn martial arts and asked someone to teach him to ride a horse and shoot arrows. Sure enough, when Bao'er grew up, he became a great general with both wisdom and courage!

In the center, Bao'er wears bright red clothes and wields two arrows, which is very festive like a New Year painting, followed by a dark color of Bao'er Xiwutu, this color and this look are a sense of light released after oppression, bringing hope to the reader, from black to red.

The fox disappeared, and his mother's illness gradually improved, so the merchant cherished his son and asked him to ride a horse and shoot arrows. Later, Bao'er grew up to be an official and has always been a great general.

This 30th anniversary commemorative new version of "Bao'er", rewritten the story text by Cai Gao, restored the story of the original "Jia'er", and added an inspirational ending picture.

A story that transcends the self with courage and wisdom to hunt foxes and save mothers - "Bao'er" intensive reading

The children's story adapted from the story of "Liaozhai" has a very ups and downs, one link after another, and the protagonist of the story, Bao'er, uses his wit and bravery to remove the monsters in the family and let the mother who suffered from it get reborn. It also confirms what the waist seal says: The most selfless and fearless thing in the world is not maternal love, but the love of children.

The content of the story also expresses the wisdom and tenacity of the Chinese people, expresses the simplicity, fearlessness, wisdom and strong love of motherhood of children, and also expresses the self-transcendence of a small teenager.

This picture book story has been created and recreated in three editions over the past 30 years.

In 1993, Cai Gao (47 years old) created the picture book "Fox Spirit in the DesertEd Garden" (the predecessor of "Bao'er"), edited by Zhuang Yuan and published by Zhejiang Children's Publishing House. He won the "Golden Apple Award" at the 14th Bratislava International Children's Book Fair (BIB), becoming the first Chinese painter to receive this honor.

On July 1, 2008, edited by Xinyi, Taiwan Xinyi Culture reprinted the book and renamed it Bao'er. For the first time, the little hero has the name "Bao'er", rather than "the merchant's son", and the focus of the story shifts from the fox spirit to the little hero to eliminate the demon, and the details of the fox spirit entanglement are weakened in the story.

In May 2021, produced by Xiao Boji and Hunan Children's Publishing House, a new edition of "Bao'er" was published for the 30th anniversary, and Cai Gao rewrote the story text and added an inspirational ending picture. The covers of the last two editions are different, and the text has changed.
