As the last emperor Puyi, people's influence on him basically stayed in the period of the Republic of China. He abdicated, he took the throne again (Zhang Xun was restored), he was expelled from the Forbidden City by Feng Yuxiang, he enjoyed the praise of foreigners in the Tianjin Concession, and he was coaxed by the Japanese to become a puppet emperor in puppet Manchukuo.
As for where he went and what experience he had after Japan's defeat, few people cared, as if the attention of the people to him dissipated in the torrent of history along with his aura as an emperor. But in his later years, Puyi actually had a very sad life, on the one hand, he broke people's understanding of the old Manchu nobles with his own efforts; on the other hand, he was tormented by illness.
Carefully speaking, he is just a poor person who has no choice but to do so in the context of the times. In 1945, the dawn of the victory of the Anti-Japanese War finally illuminated the entire land of Shenzhou, and people's faces were filled with hope and joy; on the contrary, puppet Manchuria was in chaos.
On August 15, 1945, seven days before Emperor Hirohito of Japan announced his unconditional surrender by radio, that is, on August 8, the former Soviet Union had taken the initiative to declare war and attack puppet Manchukuo, and puppet Manchukuo was destroyed. Puyi hurriedly followed his relatives and relatives until he reached Da lizigou in Tonghua County, preparing to take a plane from Shenyang to Japan.
During this period, on August 15, the day of Japan's surrender, Puyi once again issued the Edict of Abdication. However, the Soviet side had long been prepared for Puyi's possible escape from Japan, and when Puyi was waiting for a plane on August 19, he was arrested by the Soviet Red Army.
During the years in Soviet custody, Puyi applied to join the Soviet Union for fear of post-war accountability and hoped to obtain permanent residency, but this was unsuccessful. In 1950, after the founding of New China, Puyi was returned to China by the Soviet Union and spent 10 years in the Fushun War Criminals Management Center.
In the past 10 years, ideological education and labor reform have made Puyi begin to reflect on the years before him, and wrote his personal autobiography "The First Half of My Life", which has made a powerful supplement to the historical materials of the late Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the People's Republic. At the end of 1959, Puyi was finally released after receiving amnesty. Because of his special status, his work was arranged by the Beijing Civil Affairs Bureau, responsible for receiving work at the Botanical Garden of the Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Puyi's first month of work is still relatively relaxed, just watering in the botanical garden, engaged in hygiene, but the salary is really not low, there are 60 pieces a month. People who are more familiar with that period of history should know that at that time, the salary of 60 yuan a month was properly considered to be a middle and high-level income, and they could buy a lot of things. Puyi of course will not choose to grievance himself, just got the salary and immediately went to buy two things. The first thing is a quilt, right, you read that right, it's a quilt.
It should be known that Puyi was originally dressed in the imperial palace, eating, wearing, living and traveling, and the cover was definitely the best covered quilt; later, whether he went to Tianjin or puppet Manchukuo, he was treated favorably, at least on the cover quilt, he could not be wronged. But after he came out to work, there was certainly no such generous treatment, Puyi was not used to living, a salary quickly bought good cotton specially went to beat a few soft thick quilts, and finally could sleep well.
The second thing is good food. According to Puyi's own memoirs, he would eat 4 or 50 dishes at a meal in the Forbidden City, divided into 7 tables and placed on a plate in front of him. At that time, Puyi did not think that this was any treasure, wasted a lot of money, and waited until he began to work to understand how important food really was, so he immediately bought a bunch of food and a full stomach as soon as he was paid.
Looking at puyi's purchase of something, it is really worthy of being a person who has been an emperor, and the requirements for food and housing are still quite high.
