Survivor Zhu Hanxiang told the story of his personal experience.
Before the Japanese army occupied Nanjing, Zhu Hanxiang lived in Kexiang, to sell baked cakes for a living, although not very rich and noble, but also can get by, in 1937 when the Japanese army occupied Nanjing, all this changed, Zhu Hanxiang family heard about the cruelty of the Japanese army, so in advance hid in a hotel in the refugee area (safe area), and later came a neighbor Zhang Laosan, this Zhang Laosan still has illusions about the Japanese, thinking that the Japanese will not kill people casually, so he asked Zhu Hanxiang to go to his barber shop in Kexiang to see. Who knew that just out of the refugee area, the two people met the Japanese soldiers, Zhang Laosan was captured by the Japanese soldiers, and Zhu Hanxiang took this opportunity to escape, he kept running, did not dare to stop for a moment, but ran to Xinjiekou was still caught by the Japanese soldiers, but this Zhu Hanxiang had better luck, this Japanese soldier was to let him help pull the carriage, when pulled to the Daxing Palace, these Japanese soldiers wanted to drink, so asked Zhu Hanxiang if there was any wine, Zhu Hanxiang told these Japanese soldiers a hotel location, the Japanese soldiers entered the hotel, Zhu Hanxiang immediately fled, did not dare to take the main road, took the small road, encountered many corpses on the road, and at night Zhu Hanxiang fled back to the refugee area and escaped a disaster.
And Zhang Laosan is not so lucky, Zhang Laosan's two arms were cut twice, a knife was cut on the shoulder, the back of the head was slashed three times, a shot was shot in the back, obviously these Japanese soldiers are taking Zhang Laosan as a living target in the practice of bayonets, fortunately these places are not the key places, Zhang Laosan passed out, the Japanese soldiers thought Zhang Laosan was dead, so they left, Zhang Laosan woke up and climbed to a family's home, this family just came back from the refugee area, they took Zhang Laosan back to the refugee area, sent to the Drum Tower Hospital, After Zhu Hanxiang heard about it, because there was no one to accompany him, Zhu Hanxiang took a quilt to accompany him, but Zhang Laosan eventually died a week later due to excessive injury. Zhu Hanxiang went home with the quilt, just walked to the intersection of overseas Chinese, he was stabbed by the Japanese army, stabbed on the quilt, no injury, Zhu Hanxiang and more than a hundred other people tied together, pulled to an open place, the Japanese army began to strafe, Zhu Hanxiang was taken down by others, he also consciously fell down and did not move, the Japanese army did not check whether all died and left, Zhu Hanxiang crawled out until the night to go home, and escaped a disaster.
After the Japanese army occupied Nanjing, in order to maintain its rule, to issue good people's certificates to the common people, Zhu Hanxiang also went to get them, there were many people who went to get good people's certificates, the Japanese army for these people have not been soldiers, sat carpenters, bricklayers, etc., can stay and arrange work for them, many people raise their hands to stay, Zhu Hanxiang has seen the cruel side of Japanese soldiers, plus he is not these kinds of work, he did not raise his hand, so he took the good people's certificate and left, and those who stayed behind were not so lucky, and were driven to kill together by the Japanese. These acts of the Japanese army, which only fascist Germany and fascist Italy have done, have fully exposed the sinister purpose and cruel nature of the Japanese army, so this history cannot be forgotten.
