Do not hide the window moon, natural style high.? Cool breeze moves crickets, leaves fall in the stupor.? Back to pick up the embers of the lamp, the hanging picture to see the sea waves.? Because of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, there are several heroes in the air.

There is a saying that "there is no general in Shu, and Liao hua is a pioneer." This means that in the late Shu Han Dynasty, there was a shortage of talents, and only mediocre talents such as Liao Hua could be used. Although the meaning of this sentence was once called "reversed" on the Internet, we can see the context of this sentence (from the twenty-fourth time of the late Qing Dynasty novel "Sweeping Broom", interested readers can go to see, not repeated here), we can know that the above meaning is correct. In the eyes of many people, Liao Hua's ability is insufficient, and he is not a general. However, this understanding is actually biased, and is regarded as a typical LiaoHua of "no general in Shu", who twice defeated the famous Cao Wei general Guo Huai. Let's talk about this matter.
Liao hua its people
Liao Hua, whose real name was Liao Chun, was a native of Xiangyang, Jingzhou, and was once the master of the former general Guan Yu. Guan Yu was defeated by Jiangdong, Jingzhou was captured by Sun Quan, and Liao Hua surrendered to Eastern Wu for a time. Liao Hua wanted to return to Liu Bei's side, so he cheated him to death once, and then took his mother to the west day and night, and was encountering Liu Bei's army to fight Eastern Wu, and the two met at Zigui. At that time, the Shu Han army had just conquered Wu County and Zigui, defeated Lu Xun, Li Yi, Liu A and other Wu generals, and was about to leave Sichuan. Liao Hua came back to join him, and Liu Bei was also very happy, so liao Hua ling Yidu was too defensive.
As a result, Liu Bei was immediately thrown back to Sichuan and died of illness in Yong'an. Liao Hua, who was too defensive, did not take it. However, Liao Hua's career in Shu Han was not bad, and later the official to the right car riding general, and the reputation is also good, with Wang Ping (Zhenbei general), Sentence Fu (a said Gou Fu, the "Three Kingdoms Chronicle" recorded as the left general, "Huayang Guozhi" recorded as the right general), Zhang Yi (left car riding general) and said, when people called "before what (Wang Ping), hook, after Zhang, Liao." ”
Liao Hua and Guo Huai fought twice
Guo Huai was one of the so-called "four generals on the border of Cao Wei" (the Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms lists Guo Huai, Zhao Zhao, Tian Yu, and Guo Huai in a biography), and fought with Wei Yan, Zhuge Liang, Wu Yi, Jiang Wei and other famous Shu Han generals. Liao Hua also fought with Guo Huai and defeated Guo Huai twice.
I. 238 A.D
In the first year of the Shu Han Dynasty, in August of the second year of Cao Wei's Jingchu (i.e., 238 AD), Cao Wei's Burning Dang Qiang rebelled, and in September, Shu Han Yin Ping Tai Shou Liao Hua launched an attack on Cao Wei Shou Shan Qiang Hou's army, only one month before and after, which was supposed to assist in the rebellion of Cao Wei Andang Qiang. Guo Huai was the Yongzhou Assassin at that time, and he himself may have gone to assist the Liangzhou Assassin Shi in quelling the rebellion, or he may have done something else, sending only two people, Guangwei Taishou Wang Yun and Nan'an Taishou Youyi, to lead an army against LiaoHua.
Although there is no record of Guo Huai and Liao Hua directly fighting, Wang Yun and You Yi were after all Guo Huai's soldiers. Moreover, Guo Huai, the platoon of Cao Wei's army, was well aware of it, and he triumphantly sent it to the Wei Ming Emperor Cao Rui to see, claiming that defeating Liao Hua was just around the corner. At that time, Wang Yun and You Yi divided their troops to surround Liao Hua from the east and west, separated by mountains in the middle. This method of deployment is very widespread, but it is also very loose, and it is easy to be grasped by people to concentrate on weak points. Cao Rui looked at Wang Yun and You Yi's military deployment, immediately discovered the problem, and ordered Guo Huai to change some of You Yi's improperly arranged barracks. But before this order reached Guo Huai's hands, something went wrong here. Liao Hua defeated You Yi's army, and Wang Yun was also killed by random arrows.
Liao Hua's side won the victory, but the strength of The Burning Tang Qiang was indeed not strong enough, and it was quickly defeated. Liao Hua failed to complete the task of assisting in burning Dangqiang, and after defeating Wang Yun and You Yi, there was no follow-up. However, this is also enough to reflect LiaoHua's military ability and Guo Huai's inappropriateness in facing Liaohua.
"Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Wei Shu, Ming Emperor Chronicle": "In the autumn and August, the Qiang king Mangzhong and Zhuyi rebelled. ”
Book of Wei: "In September, Shu Yin Ping Taishou Liao rebelled... Yongzhou Assassin Shi Guo Huai sent Guangwei Taishou Wang Yun and Nan'an Taishou You Yi to fight... Yi Jun was broken by Yi, and Yun was killed by Liu Ya. ”
2. 247 AD (the Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms, the Book of Shu, and the Later Biography of Jiang Wei are recorded as 247 AD, and the Biography of Guo Huai is recorded as 248 AD.
In the tenth year of The Shu Han Dynasty and the eighth year of cao Wei Zheng (i.e., 247 AD), after ten years, Liao Hua and Guo Huai, the old rivals, once again fought. At that time, the Qiang leaders of Longxi County, Nan'an County, Jincheng County, Xiping County, and other places rebelled against Hunger He, Vatong, Zhaoge, Mothshasai and others, and the Liangzhou Hu leaders Bai Huwen and Zhi Wudai also echoed and asked Shu Han for help. Although Jiang Huan was dead at that time, and the anti-war faction Fei Yi had ascended to the throne, this rebellion in the Longyou region was an opportunity after all, and the support of Shu Han could also set an example for other Qiang and Hu leaders to win over their hearts. So Jiang Wei sent troops to echo the leaders of the Long Right Qiang and Hu people.
This war was mainly concentrated on Jiang Wei, Guo Huai, Xiahou Ba, and the leaders of the Qiang and Hu tribes, and the specific process will not be mentioned here, mainly talking about the war between Guo Huai and Liao Hua. At that time, qiang leaders such as Hungry He, Burning Ge, and MothShasai had already been defeated, and Baihu Wen and Zhi Wudai were also defeated by Guo Huai and surrendered to Shu Han. Jiang Wei went to the northwest to receive Zhi Wudai and others, and Ordered Liao Hua to build a city dock at ChengzhongShan (according to the Dictionary of the Three Kingdoms), which should be west of Didao) to accommodate the defeated Qiang people, and also assisted Jiang Wei in the work of receiving Zhi Wudai.
In the face of Liao Hua and Jiang Wei, the Generals of Cao Wei all believed that they should concentrate their forces to the west to block the confluence of Jiang Wei and Zhi Wudai, but Guo Huai probably liked to divide his troops and had to divide some of his forces to attack Liao Hua. Guo Huai's plan was as follows: Guo Huai divided his troops to fight Liao Hua's ChengzhongShanchengWu, and Jiang Wei would definitely worry and return to the rescue; when Jiang Wei rushed back, Liao Hua was also finished, and Jiang Wei came back with a sigh and a gasp, and he did not have the ability to take care of Zhi Wu Dai again. So Guo Huai ordered Xiahou Ba to attack Jiang Wei and liao hua himself.
In the Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms, The Biography of Guo Huai, Wei Shu, and Guo Huai's biography is recorded as "all like Huai Ji", and the words "destroying Liao Hua" are also included in the edicts that later sealed Guo Huai, and it seems that Guo Huai violently beat Liao Hua. However, combined with the records of the Book of Shu, Jiang Wei successfully received Zhi Wu into Shu, and Jiang Wei and Liao Hua retreated with the hu tribe they had returned to. It can be seen that Liao Hua has completed its task and won a strategic victory in this campaign.
"Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Book of Shu, Biography of Jiang Wei": "Fought against the Wei generals Guo Huai and Xiahou Ba in Taoxi. Hu Wangzhi wu dai and other tribes descended, and Wei would return to peace. ”
"Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Book of Shu, And Later Biography": "Ten years later, Bai Huwen and Zhi Wudai, the kings of Liangzhou, led the people to surrender, and the Wei general Jiang Wei was appeased and settled in Fan County. ”
brief summary
"There are no generals in Shu, and Liao is a pioneer." This sentence is already deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. In the later period of the Shu Han Dynasty, it seemed that there was a shortage of talents, and veteran generals like Liao Hua were still active on the battlefield. However, Liao Hua was able to defeat Cao Wei's famous general Guo Huai twice, reflecting his military ability. Unfortunately, Liao Hua is still regarded as a mediocre talent by many people. The editor thought that this was probably because Liao Hua had no personal biography in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms (Liao Hua only had a small biography, attached to the "Zong Pre-Biography", and his two battles were completely unrecorded in it, and could only be found in the "Ming Emperor's Chronicle" and "Guo Huai's Biography"). I had to shout for Liao Hua that I had been wronged.
