Volvo Cars and JD Logistics have fully opened eight logistics centers across the country

A few days ago, Volvo Cars and JD Logistics announced that the eight major logistics centers jointly built by the two sides have been fully opened, which also marks the official launch of Volvo's national after-sales supply chain integration project. Previously, in August 2021, the two sides announced a strategic cooperation and carried out in-depth cooperation in many fields such as after-sales supply chain warehouse network planning, forecast replenishment, and terminal distribution.

It is reported that Volvo Cars' new warehousing project uses the coverage and technical advantages of JD.com's logistics infrastructure to turn Volvo Cars' original national 4 warehouses into 8 warehouses in the country, and at the same time realizes the structural optimization of auto parts inventory costs by building a big data intelligent computing replenishment model. And according to the data of the previous Xi'an pilot warehouse, after the upgrade, the inventory turnover under the premise of increasing the satisfaction rate of accessories orders has increased significantly, and it is expected that the eight major warehousing centers in the country can achieve a further decline in inventory costs after the full landing.

A highlight of the project comes from the change in the structure of the warehouse network. Compared with the traditional warehouse network structure configured by the region, the new warehousing project not only upgrades the original 4 warehouses to 8 warehouses, but also simulates the optimal network layout and inventory cost structure with the help of JD Logistics' supply chain basic network and big data application technology, and verifies the lean replenishment management of the supply chain.

According to the relevant data in the first half of 2021, the intelligent replenishment model of the pilot warehouse in Xi'an completed the test acceptance, and the warehouse order satisfaction rate increased to more than 95%, and the inventory turnover also increased significantly. And it is estimated that with the full operation of the eight major logistics centers in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Nanjing, Guiyang, Shenyang and Xi'an, at least 30% of the distributor distribution cycle will be improved.

At the same time, BASED LOGISTICS also customized the replenishment logic of the front-loading fast-flow warehouse, the fast-middle-flow warehouse and the slow-flow warehouse for Volvo Cars based on the different consumption frequencies of different accessories, which further optimized the inventory holding cost and replenishment frequency while comprehensively improving service satisfaction and achieving structural cost reduction. In addition, the two sides will also form a logistics integration layout for the wholesale business and retail business, and provide personalized services for home delivery for the first time in the industry.

The two sides said that the landing of the project of the eight major warehousing centers in the country is the first luxury car brand and the full release of the value of cooperation between the integrated supply chain, and the two sides will take this as the entry point for cooperation in the future, continue to explore deeper cooperation content, jointly optimize the efficiency of the automotive industry supply chain, and create a higher quality service experience for consumers.
