Wenbo art empowers the micro-renewal of the city, and the Longmen Grottoes enter the Shanghai community for the first time to talk with residents.

"Mingxin Miaoxiang: Longmen Grottoes Art Dialogue Special Exhibition has just ended at the Shanghai University Museum, and now it debuted at the Dongchang Community "Xingmeng Parking Shed", which was rated as the first place in the "Art into the Community" demonstration project in Shanghai, and held a curator tour and expert dialogue activities.

The community exhibition is hosted by Henan Provincial Bureau of Cultural Relics and Shanghai University, organized by Shanghai University Museum and Longmen Grottoes Research Institute, and co-organized by Dongchang Xincun Residents Committee of Lujiazui Street, Pudong New Area, Shanghai and Community Hub Station. This is the second phase of the exhibition conducted by the Shanghai University Museum into the community after the "Sanxingdui: The World of Man and God" photo exhibition entered the "Dream Parking Shed".

As a brand public education activity, the museum and professional social work institutions brought the content of "museum same style" to the residents of Lujiazui community, so that every resident who entered the carport to pick up and release the vehicle could "accidentally" appreciate the high-level cultural relics exhibition, inadvertently realizing the dialogue between ancient and modern civilizations. Through the renovation of the parking shed, the community exhibition also participated in the micro-renewal of the Lujiazui community and explored the beautiful vision of art integration into life, which not only brought a unique art feast to the community residents, but also further participated in the "community governance" in this way, strengthening the connection between the museum and the local residents of the city.

Longmen Grottoes is located in the southern suburbs of Luoyang, the capital of the Nine Dynasties, with more than 2,300 existing cave niches, nearly 110,000 statues, more than 2,800 inscriptions and more than 70 stupas, which is one of the treasure houses with the largest number of Buddhist statues in the world so far, and also the largest and most outstanding Buddhist plastic art from the late Northern Wei Dynasty to the Tang Dynasty, representing the highest peak of Chinese stone carving art.

In September last year, the Shanghai University Museum's "Mingxin Miaoxiang: Longmen Grottoes Art Dialogue Special Exhibition" was unveiled and attracted much attention, with a collection of 27 special collections of the Longmen Grottoes Research Institute and 16 contemporary art works, including the beautiful and elegant Northern Wei statues and calligraphy, the solemn Tang Dynasty statues, and the Longmen lost cultural relics returning from overseas. Nine contemporary artists presented their impressions of the Longmen Grottoes and Buddhist art through calligraphy, painting, sculpture, lacquer art and glass art. Contemporary artists and traditional culture staged a unique and in-depth dialogue here, presenting the inheritance and innovation of artistic tradition to modernity.

During the exhibition period, a total of 40,885 visitors were received, and about 4 million people participated in online activities (including lectures and guides). During the exhibition, more than 20 lectures and guided tours and social education activities were held, and good social benefits were achieved. The museum has also launched a digital exhibition hall where visitors can view all the exhibition content online and get an immersive experience without leaving their homes.
