The harsh reality behind the beat-up workers: the money is not earned, and the health is gone

What kind of day does an ordinary worker have to go through?

Probably it is one thing after another, non-stop processing, this side of the notice to meet, that side said to report, a lot of PPT to do ...

When I was finished looking out the window, the lights were already bright.

The spirit was tense all day, the face was slightly pale, and in contrast, the dark circles of the eyes were like tattoos on the eye sockets, which had never disappeared. The body was weak, the head was faintly painful, and the fat on the stomach went round and round, accompanied by a series of stomach pains.

At the end of the day, tired is counted, from nine o'clock in the morning to nine o'clock in the evening, in addition to the meal time, the robbery is 11 hours, good guys, 3 hours more than the 8-hour work system stipulated by the state.

At this moment, I just want to scream at the sky: Is it so difficult to beat workers?!

In November 2021, survey data released by the National Bureau of Statistics showed that the average working hours of employed persons in enterprises across the country were 47.8 hours per week, which is equivalent to 9.56 hours per day based on five days of work a week. [1]

Young people, bound by inward rolls and struggles, get up early and go to bed late, and not only are wages evenly paid, but even the length of work is averaged.

However, what is even more heartbreaking is that every worker has to face the cruel fact that long hours of work aggravate the deterioration of physical and mental health.

1

The mentality of the beaters collapsed

A study published in the journal Social Sciences and Medicine showed that working more than 39 hours a week is harmful to mental health. [2]

Researchers from the Australian National University compiled government data on about 8,000 Australian men and women aged between 24-64. The results found that working an average of more than 39 hours a week or more increased the probability of mental health problems, anxiety, and depression.

Continuous work, invisible stress, insomnia caused by too long working hours, depression, mental decadence, and self-denial caused by part-time work will eventually become a straw that crushes adults and affects everyone's life and work.

In addition to affecting mental health, the harm caused to the body due to too long working hours has made the workers even more tearful.

2

How fragile is the health of workers?

A study published by the World Health Organization and the International Labour Organization in Environment International showed that working 55 hours or more a week can pose a serious health hazard. [3]

The study conducted two systematic reviews and meta-analyses of more than 2,300 survey data collected in 154 countries between 1970 and 2018, synthesizing data from ischemic heart disease in 768,000 participants and stroke studies from 839,000 participants.

The results found that 398,000 people who worked at least 55 hours a week died of stroke and 347,000 died of heart disease compared to those who worked 35-40 hours a week. Long hours of work increased the number of deaths from heart disease by 42 percent and the number of deaths from stroke increased by 19 percent.

What is the concept of working 55 hours a week? Just like me, working 11 hours a day. This means that we are more likely to develop heart disease and stroke than people who work less than 8 hours a day.

The harsh reality behind the beat-up workers: the money is not earned, and the health is gone

Researchers believe that a series of bad lifestyle habits caused by long hours of work, such as staying up late, sitting still, not having time to eat well and take care of themselves, pose a serious threat to health, and these health-devouring behaviors envelop us, making people physically and mentally exhausted, and the body is gradually hollowed out. Over time, death will creep in...

In recent years, there have been frequent cases of sudden death of workers, and they are always sounding the alarm for workers!

On December 10, 2021, a post-90s boy engaged in mail sorting in a mail processing center in Xi'an died suddenly after working overtime.

On January 29, 2020, an employee born in 1998 on an e-commerce platform died suddenly on the way to work.

On January 5, 2020, an employee of a car brand, working 300 hours a month, died suddenly in a rental house after returning home from work.

Taking life for money, changing for people is gone.

Hit the workers, don't be reckless

So what's the best way to get back healthy? The answer may be: No.

80% of the pain in life may come from part-time work, however, if you do not work, 100% of the pain will come from no money, so between part-time work and no money, workers will still choose to work due to the situation.

However, the exchange of health for money is not worth the loss, for the sake of health, we may wish to try to replace the tactical diligence with strategic diligence, improve work efficiency, and strive to leave work early. After all, the curve to save the country is also to save the country!
