90 years of throne change! Toyota surpassed GM for the first time into the United States in 2021 car sales crown 丨 a hot stock

According to data released on January 4, GM sold about 2.2 million vehicles in the United States in 2021, down 12.9% year-on-year, while Toyota sold about 2.3 million vehicles in the United States last year, up 10.4% year-on-year. This marks the first time in 90 years that GM has not become the best-selling automaker in the United States, and the first time that a non-local automaker has topped the annual U.S. auto sales list.

The global chip shortage in 2021 has hit the auto industry to varying degrees, with many car companies forced to focus on producing the most profitable models. A GM spokesperson said that as the economy recovers further, the chip shortage is alleviated, and GM sales will rebound.

In 2021, the total number of vehicles sold nationwide will be about 15 million units, far below the average annual level of 17.3 million units in the five years from 2015 to 2019. Industry insiders expect that in 2022, the total sales volume of cars in the United States will reach 15.5 million. At the same time, car prices will continue to rise.
