Li Xiuwen: She married at the age of 19, bore 9 children to the husband of the military commander, and risked death to accompany her husband to prison

In 1907, Li Xiuwen was born in a wealthy merchant family in Macau, and when she was in middle school, her parents sent her to the Zhixin Girls' High School, which was a provincial key middle school, which was initiated by Dr. Sun Yat-sen to commemorate the modern democratic revolutionary Mr. Zhu Zhixin, and most of the students who came here were the children of nobles.

Li Xiuwen in middle school, out of the pavilion, slender and tall, white and delicate skin, a long hair black and beautiful, long-term good education and cultural edification, so that her eyebrows hidden a kind of intellectual tranquility, can be described as a temperament elegant beauty, in the school was called "school flower" crown!

So how did Li Xiuwen get acquainted with Ye Ting? Li Xiuwen's father, Li Shaocun, had a close friend named Li Zhangda, who was the commander of Sun Yat-sen's gendarmerie, and Ye Ting was the chief of staff of the gendarmerie at that time, so he and Li Zhangda were both colleagues and brothers, and had a particularly good relationship. Ye Ting often went to Li Zhangda's house to drink tea and chat, and Li Shaocun often took his daughter to hang out at his friend's house, so that two hearts of fiery admiration collided together.

Once, when the two were on a date, Li Xiuwen asked Ye Ting: When are you going to eradicate those three kinds of dust? This question made Ye Ting look confused: What dust? Li Xiuwen said: It is the three mountains that weigh on the heads of the people, warlords, bureaucrats, and politicians, as long as they are in one day, the people will not have a good life.

This question made the two hearts boiling with blood instantly find the point of convergence of the revolutionary cause, and since then they have decided to advance hand in hand on the road of the revolutionary cause.

For the marriage between the two, his father Li Shaocun raised an "objection", saying: If you want to marry my daughter, unless you Ye Ting becomes the head of the regiment, don't think about it. In fact, Li Shaocun had already fallen in love with Ye Ting, the son-in-law, and he said these words in the hope that marriage could become a driving force to encourage both parties to move forward.

Ye Ting was not only a talented man, but also had outstanding ability, firm revolutionary conviction and strong revolutionary enthusiasm, and in 1925, he was appointed head of the Independent Regiment of the National Revolutionary Army. After meeting Li Shaocun's "requirements", Li Xiuwen and Ye Ting also smoothly entered the palace of marriage, that year, Li Xiuwen was 19 years old and Ye Ting was 30 years old. When his daughter got married, Li Shaocun also gave a large dowry.

After the failure of the Guangzhou uprising, Ye Ting's family ran abroad and began a 10-year long "wandering life", during which Ye Ting studied military in Germany, opened a hotel, and did odd jobs, but in the end he could not make ends meet, and at this time, Liu Shaocun almost bore all of their living expenses.

During this period, in order to win over this general, the Kuomintang either sent money or gifts, but Ye Ting was not moved and refused at all, because he knew that only the Communist Party could save China, so he was also actively joining the Communist Party.

In 1937, he returned to Yan'an to prepare for the establishment of the New Fourth Army, and under the recommendation of Chairman Mao, he served as the commander of the New Fourth Army. In order to change this situation, Ye Ting can be described as painstaking, he insisted on asking for a batch of old subordinates from the past, and tried to capture the weapons of the Japanese army, and in order to help her husband's revolutionary cause, Li Xiuwen even took her parents' pension to buy equipment, bought 3600 guns from Guangdong and Hong Kong, and personally escorted them to the New Fourth Army and handed them over to the state, which is really the best revolutionary companion.

On January 4, 1941, the Anhui Incident broke out, the New Fourth Army was suddenly attacked by Chiang Kai-shek in southern Anhui, 9,000 troops, except for 2,000 people who broke through and fled, all the remaining heroic sacrifices, the commander Ye Ting was arrested, and the deputy commander Xiang Yingxiong was sacrificed.

In the four years that her husband was arrested and imprisoned, Li Xiuwen was not afraid of life and death and pain, and resolutely applied to come to the prison to support her husband and spend the darkest prison time together. In prison, Ye Ting wrote the famous revolutionary poem, "Prisoner Song":

The door for people to enter and exit is locked,

The hole open for the dog to crawl away,

A voice shouted:

Climb out and give you freedom!

I long for freedom,

But I also know deeply -

How can a human body crawl out of a dog's hole!

I can only look forward to,

That day --

The fire of the underground is raging,

Burn this living coffin with me,

I deserve eternal life in fire and blood.

Four years later, Ye Ting was released, and on the morning of his release, the Kuomintang sent Ye Ting a brand-new Nizi general's uniform, hoping to replace his gray cloth uniform, which had long been worn out. Ye Ting held his head high and said: "I will not change, I will continue to return to the New Fourth Army in the clothes of the New Fourth Army."

After being released from prison, the whole family rejoiced, finally survived the darkest time, and now they are going to fly to Yan'an, which is free and full of victory. On that day, the family boarded a special US military plane and flew from Chongqing to Yan'an. In fact, Premier Zhou advised them at that time that they should first rest for a few days and then take another flight after a while. But they were like arrows, as if they were going home, and their mood was very urgent, insisting on taking this flight back, and just returned together with some representatives of the Kuomintang and the Communists negotiating.

Chairman Mao was very happy to learn that Ye Ting's family was coming back, and a grand welcome ceremony had been prepared at the airport, and chairman himself, Zhu De, and Ren Bishi also personally came to the airport to greet him. There are also Ye Ting's two sons, Ye Zhengming and Ye Huaming, who are already waiting at the airport.

After the plane took off, the weather and everything was normal, and by noon, the sky gradually began to rain lightly, and the plane had flown over Yan'an, just when everyone was cheering and jumping and looking forward to it, the sound of the plane slowly changed from near and far, and finally lost its sound completely.

Until two days later, a bad news came: the plane on which Ye Ting's family was riding crashed into the Black Tea Mountain at an altitude of more than 2,000 meters near Xingxian County, Shanxi, and the plane suddenly exploded and caught fire, falling off a cliff, and all the people on board were killed.

At that time, Li Xiuwen was only 39 years old and was a mother of nine children, what a heart-wrenching tragedy, and the whole of Yan'an was shrouded in a sad atmosphere. On April 15, 1945, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China held a memorial service for them, which was attended by more than 2,000 people from all walks of life in Yan'an, and the memorial article "To the Dead Father and Mother" written by Ye Zhengming was even more difficult to hide the sadness and tears:

Mother, since you married your father, you have never had a good life. Just after getting married, your father rarely spent time with you because he participated in the revolution several times, and in the more than twenty years of marriage, you have tirelessly raised 9 children, the third died of infancy, and the fifth and ninth died with their parents. You never complained, you didn't say a word of frustration. Mother, you nurtured us, educated us, and enabled us to grow up very quickly. Rest assured, Mother, that your son will follow your teachings well and follow the path of light.
