The Qianlong Emperor of the Qing Dynasty called himself the Old Man of the Ten Perfections, and in these Ten Perfections, the last one was "surrendered by the Contour". That is, the Battle of Gurkha in 1790, it is a long story to talk about this battle.
In 1790, the Gorkha (Nepalese) government changed dynasties, and the state became very aggressive, not only swallowing up small tribes, but even extending their paws to the Tibetan region of China.
During that period, the Qing Dynasty did not have many troops in Tibet, and as a result, the Gurkha army was left in a no-man's land and easily occupied half of Tibet. Perhaps afraid, the Gurkha army did not stay long anyway, and immediately withdrew to the country.
Seeing that the Qing Dynasty did not react, the Gurkha king became bold, and sent this army again the following year to invade Tibet, completely occupying the Houzang region, and refusing to leave.
When Qianlong learned of this, he was very angry, and he ordered Fu Kang'an to lead 10,000 elite soldiers to kill this army.
After receiving the order, FuKang'an did not dare to be idle, so he ordered soldiers and horses that night, and rushed to Tibet in the starry night. The soldiers of the Gurkha were nothing more than surprises, and as soon as the regular army of Fukang'an arrived, they achieved the results of "six battles and six victories, killing four thousand enemies, and recovering Tibet."
As we all know, in the late Qianlong period, there were gradually fewer national wars, and a general like Fu Kang'an had not fought for a long time. After defeating the Gurkha soldiers, Fukang'an climbed across the Himalayas with the Qing army and approached the Gurkha capital, Yangbu City, the meaning is obvious, take advantage of your illness to kill you.
When the king of Gurkha saw it, he also regretted that he had provoked the hard stubble of the Qing Dynasty, so he immediately tied himself up and pleaded guilty, expressing his willingness to submit to China and pay tribute every year. Later, it was not until 1908, when Nepal was annexed by the British, that the tribute was broken.
In the Battle of Gurkha, Fukang'an only defeated the Gurkha soldiers, but did not kill them, so after the war, many Gurkhas gathered in Tibet. The Qing government did not have the strength to take care of them, so these people wanted to return to the motherland, but the Gurkha was afraid that the Qing Dynasty would be angry, so it never accepted them.
In other words, these people have been abandoned by their home country.
These people later had a unified name, the Dammam people. Because they could not return to their homeland, the Damans took root in China. Although they have lived in China for more than 200 years, the Dammam people have not obtained a legal identity, and one might say, what is wrong with this.
The consequences of not having legal status are severe, which means that The Daman people do not have access to compulsory education, medical care, and various infrastructure guarantees, although they are no different from Chinese, and even the young people of the tribe have begun to speak Chinese.
In 2003, china's State Council specially approved them to join China, and the Group of Dammam people who have lived in China for more than 200 years finally obtained legal status and their quality of life has become higher!
