Next to it was an Apple card that said, "Every once in a while, something comes along and changes everything." Congratulations and thank you for helping to make the Apple M1 possible! "

Boretto noted that Dec. 31, 2021, is "a special gift for the last day of the year, and he's proud to have been involved in Apple's transition to Intel and now Apple Silicon."

Apple announced the transition to Apple's self-developed chip in June 2020 and released its first Apple chip, the M1, in November of that year. Apple says the transition will take a total of two years to complete. In October, the company unveiled the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, the first high-end chips designed for the Mac, adding chips to its transformation.

In 2022, Apple expects to release a redesigned MacBookAir with M2, a larger Apple SiliconiMac, a high-end Mac mini, and a new Mac Pro.
