IT Home December 20 news, Apple has previously launched a new MacBook Pro laptop equipped with M1 Pro and M1 Max processors, and the mac series processor transition to the self-developed Arm architecture of Apple Silicon processor two-year plan has been one year, M1 Pro and M1 Max The emergence of the plan symbolizes that the plan has taken a big step forward.
According to the local Business Times in Taiwan Province of China, supply chain practitioners revealed that the development of Apple's M2 series processors has been nearly completed, and will use TSMC's 4nm process for mass production, and Apple Silicon will be upgraded every 18 months in the future.

IT Home learned that the current Apple M1 Pro and M1 Max are both mass-produced by TSMC 5nm, which is currently Apple's strongest and most powerful Mac processor, and both chips use M1X's 10-core processor architecture, the biggest difference is the number of GPU cores.
In addition, according to industry news, Apple will readjust the naming of Mac series PCs in 2022, hoping to more accurately match the M2 series processor rating and clearly make product differences and market segmentation. This wants to better adapt to the current Apple Apple Silicon product line M1, M1 Pro, M1 Max three ratings.
According to foreign media and industry news, Apple's Mac series PC product line after 2022 will be adjusted to six series:
Laptop products will be divided into MacBooks with M2 processors, and MacBook Pros with M2 Pro and M2 Max;
All-in-one products will be divided into iMacs equipped with M2 processors, and iMac Pros equipped with M2 Pro and M2 Max;
The strongest desktop products (desktops) include the Mac mini with the M2 processor and the Mac Pro with the M2 Pro and M2 Max.
ODM industry pointed out that Apple will change all Mac series to self-developed Apple Silicon in 2022, and the M2 series processor and Mac series product line are more clearly matched, which will help accelerate the generational transition of product lines.
He said that the development of Apple's M2 series processors is nearing completion and is expected to be launched in the second half of 2022, and the M2 Pro and M2 Max are expected to be launched in the first half of 2023.
According to supply chain industry sources, Apple will first launch the M2 processor codenamed Staten in the second half of 2022, and then launch the new M2X processor architecture codenamed Rhodes in the first half of 2023, and release two processors such as M2 Pro and M2 Max according to the different drawing cores. Apple's M2 series processors all use the 4nm process, which will be updated to the M3 series processor after the 18-month cycle, and are expected to be mass-produced using TSMC's 3nm process.
As for the new iPhone 14 that Apple will launch in the second half of 2022, according to industry sources, Apple will launch two A16 Bionic processors, which will be 6-core processor architecture, but will be differentiated according to the number of GPU cores, and support 5G dual-band and new generation LPDDR5, WiFi 6E and other technical specifications, will use TSMC 4nm process projection.
