【New Zhiyuan Guide】How much do Meta overseas employees earn in a year? The vast majority of engineers have a base salary of more than $150,000 and a manager-director base salary of more than $300,000, not counting stock options.
If you want to get a high salary at Facebook and you're not an executive, go get a job as an engineer, marketing, or communications.
According to Facebook's salary data for the most recent year, high-level engineers can easily earn six-figure salaries, as can executives in marketing and communications departments.
Business Insider extracted compensation information for employees from more than 15,000 work visa applications the company submitted to the U.S. government in 2021.
The data shows that Meta engineering managers earn just under $350,000 a year. The Director of Internal Communications earns about $300,000. And that's just the salary. Meta Total Compensation Package includes restricted shares initially generously granted, which are generally also calculated as progressive income.
The amount of equity incentives is often not lower than the salary. For employees who perform well, it may reach three or four times the basic salary. It all starts with a base salary, though. So, how much basic salary can Facebook employees earn?
The data shows that most Meta employees earn six-figure salaries, but some earn much higher salaries than others. Data scientists in California earn $170,000 and data scientists in Maryland make $155,000. A software engineer in Massachusetts is paid $123,000, while a software engineer in New York is paid $160,000.
There are limitations to this information. The data only covers positions Facebook hired from other countries, and last year's hiring was widespread due to the company's efforts to recruit and retain talent. The focus is on hiring data scientists and engineers, while rarely recruiting executives.
Stock options are not included in the data, nor are experiences and their impact on compensation. Overall, though, the data gives us a solid idea of Facebook's salary levels.
