As early as May 1938, the Jiaodong Special Committee and the local people's anti-Japanese forces established the Laihuangye base area here. Since then, our army has relied on this to continuously expand its base areas, recover lost land, and strike at the Japanese puppet army, which soon became a thorn in the enemy's eye, and the Japanese army wanted to get rid of our base areas quickly.
In order to divide and encircle the base areas, the Japanese army frequently mobilized troops to sweep up our base areas, and at the same time carried out the so-called "strengthening of public security management" in the villages around the base areas, and took 15 villages near the air force, such as Shabu Yujia and Yuanbi Zhangjia, as a "special area." Here they intimidated the common people with secret service rule, threatened the masses not to communicate with our army, and set up strongholds in many places in an attempt to turn this area into a "nail" inserted into the base area. Beginning in the spring of 1944, our army in Shandong launched a local offensive against the enemy, and although the rule of the Japanese and puppets in the "special areas" did not waver for the time being, the situation forced the enemy to seriously consider what must be done to stabilize the hearts and minds of the local people.
On July 7, 1944, the seventh anniversary of the outbreak of the "July 7 Incident", the Japanese felt that this was a good opportunity to publicize and show off the so-called "Great East Asian Holy War", so the enemy decided to hold a congress in the "special area" and let the masses participate in the meeting through coercion and inducement, in order to win back the hearts of the local people and boost their own morale.
This information was quickly intercepted by my reliable insiders and quickly sent to the Huangxian Independent Battalion in the Ludong base area on July 5. Intelligence shows that on the morning of July 6, more than 100 devils and puppet troops were leaving their strongholds and going to Shabu Yujia to hold propaganda."

The Huangxian Independent Battalion immediately decided to attack, and the troops arrived at the Yuanbi Zhangjia on the night of July 5 after a secret march, and set up an ambush circle to prepare to ambush the Japanese puppet army that came to the meeting the next day.
At about 8:30 a.m. on 6 July, about 150 Japanese puppet troops set out from the Longkou stronghold and passed through Yuanbi Zhangjia to Shabu Yujia. After several hours of "congress", hundreds of Japanese puppet soldiers were also tired and left the village at 11:30 to prepare to return to the stronghold from the original road.
When the enemy's marching column completely entered the ambush circle of my independent battalion, our army suddenly pulled 2 mines and signaled an attack! The ambush troops of our army immediately opened fierce fire on the enemy, and the Japanese puppet army that hit fell on the spot, and the rest of the enemy looked around in panic to find cover and tried to resist on the spot.
Our army immediately launched an attack on the enemy without waiting for the enemy to launch a defense, and the enemy who had not yet organized the defense had to flee immediately; our army killed more than 10 puppet troops and captured more than 10 people. Our army pursued it in hot pursuit, and from time to time japanese puppet troops were killed or captured on the way.
At this time, in order to stabilize the troops, the Japanese squad leader ordered the troops to withdraw into the ditch, trying to resist with the help of the ditch, at this time it happened to be a light rain, the ditch was very wet and muddy, the puppet army saw that our army was fierce, taking advantage of the devil's lack of attention, they all quietly slipped into the crop field next to the ditch and fled. The Japanese squad leader saw that the general situation was gone, and could only order 1 machine gun group and 2 Japanese troops to stay behind and lead the others to escape.
2 Japanese machine gunners relied on 1 light machine gun to shoot at our army, trying to cover the main force to escape, our independent battalion 2 companies 1 platoon 2 squads bypassed the enemy's fire kill range, from the flank to attack the machine gun position, successively stabbed 2 Japanese soldiers to death, captured the enemy's light machine guns.
In this 15-minute battle, more than 30 Japanese puppet troops were killed and wounded, 14 people below the leader of the puppet army were captured, and 1 machine gun and more than 40 long and short guns were captured. Only 2 men of our army were slightly wounded. This victory was not only rewarded by the general orders of the superiors, but also shattered the myth that the enemy had just preached at the so-called "congress" that the "imperial army was invincible", and gave the enemy a hard blow to his efforts to stabilize the "special zone".
