According to Yonhap News Agency, the South Korean government expects to double the number of new energy vehicles in South Korea from the current 248,000 to about 500,000 by 2022, of which at least 200,000 are pure electric vehicles powered by pure battery motors.

In order to achieve this goal, the South Korean government will also accelerate the construction of more public charging piles and hydrogen fuel supply stations in South Korea, of which the South Korean Ministry of Transport said that it will install more than 1,000 public charging piles on all highways in South Korea by the end of 2022, up from only 435 at present.
