Published between 2018 and 2020, Sanctions is a very violent series of novels, with murders like this abounding, with 46 murders committed by the protagonist alone.
Except for a few readers, no one will be too impressed by the death of the tattoo shopwoman.
Until, this Monday, the real-life tattoo shopwoman Alicia Cardenas was really dead.
And the man who shot her was a man with a one-letter name, Lyndon Mcleod.
On December 27, Alicia was the first victim to die in multiple shootings in Denver, Colorado, USA.
It happened around 5:20 p.m. when the real-life Lyndon walked into the Thor Tribe Tattoo Shop on Sixth Avenue.
As usual, the owner Alicia was busy in the shop when she heard the door being pushed, and she looked up to see someone walking in with a gun.
Alicia screamed and tried to escape, but it was too late. Lyndon fired two shots at her in the head, and she died instantly.
The killing didn't stop, and Lyndon pointed his gun at the clerk Alyssa Gunn-Maldonado and fired at her deadly site. Alyssa eventually died in the hospital.
Alyssa's husband, tattooist Jimmy Maldonado, was also shot by him and is still in hospital.
Police received a call at 5:25 a.m., but by the time they arrived, Lyndon was long gone.
A few minutes later, Lyndon broke into a house on 200 Sixth Avenue and shot at the occupants inside.

But in reality, he did go to that neighborhood, shoot and set a van on fire, but didn't kill anyone.
